yes there are far to many foriegners. take a look at our goalkeeping situation, they are not good enough. the only decent keepers in the prem are not english. i feel that this is how it will be soon for every position. we need to bring in some restrictions soon. we need to have at least 5 englishmen in every premiership team that takes the field not just in a squad.

Answered a similar question recently. I think that if we lose one more place to an overseas player, then we will have only 11 English players from the Premiership to choose from. The second 11 would come from the the Championship and League 1.
At least before, Man U did bring through a whole generation of English players that gave us a backbone of a national team. now even they are buying their youth overseas. I'm not praising Man U, just saying what they did for the national team. Scholes, Butt, Beckham, Neville's etc etc. Now that's gone.
Now with all these foreign owners they will have even less interest in the National Team, so it's all over. We will be even more of a laughing stock then we are now. Football was a game for the people, with the national team being very important. Now it is a game businessmen to make money. I don't have a problem with that, only we can no longer call it sport. It isn't
But I'm just a dumb blonde so what do I know?

Foreign players help the EPL's quality better and makes it more money. That's why EPL gets so much TV revenue around the world. Sure, foreign players take several starting spots from a club like Chelsea but the English players who start are better. I think it's an even trade.
The problem is nearly all English players play in England now (except for Beckham). They all learn the same playing style in the same climate. When you're playing in the World Cup under hot and humid conditions, do you think the English players are used to it? When an opponent figures out a way to defend England effectively, can the English players be creative enough to counteract the defense?
When you look at perennial contenders like Brazil, Italy, Argentina, and Germany, they have more players in other leagues.

Yes there are too many foreigners in the English game - but as you know most are more gifted than our home grown lot. But maybe because Europe has a massive population base and we are a pretty small Ireland - so theres bound to be more quality overall - At this rate though we will have half or three quarters of all clubs in the prem with a first 11 all foreign - with no room and little chance for good English players to develop - so they will play at a lower level and the national side suffers.
We are lucky though to have a wealth of talent though - but I do believe like others that the hunger and passion has gone out of the game.
Players like Robson - Butcher - Moore and co epitomised the spirit
I feel that only players like Gerrard and Ferdinand for the England team really seem to put 100% in their game on a consistent level - the others don't - Beckham used to - but he is not the force he was - and there again don't we still need him like crazy!

No not at all. The Engurlish players who are selected should be good enough, but their massive collective ego, thinking that they know better than any coach will keep them from achieving the success they and the English media think they deserve.
Also the coach of the present set up - MacLaren - was not even 2nd choice, so the level of respect he is shown, is probably minimal.
Sam Allardyce was not given the job as he would have told the FA no interfering, and O'Neill wasn't given it as he is from Northern Ireland.
I think Brooking's Statement refers to the future of the English team/ squad with all the foreign players, but again this is of their own doing.
The amount of money involved has escalated, and as a result the returns for the monies the boards give their managers is higher.
If anything there should be a requirement from the FA that at least 25% of money earned (profit) should be put into local facilities and grassroots, unlikely but it would be good.
In answer to your question no, the present set up and the failings of it have happened of their own doing and no one else's.

Great foreign players ought to be an example to young English players.
Training alongside Zola, Bergkamp and Henry should serve as a benchmark for young players to seek to attain.
Unfortunately, Joe Cole, should have developed into a midfield general by now, but is languishing because he can't get a regular game for his club side.
The English National side should be populated by players who are leading figures in their club sides, leaders of men.
The rugby team that triumphed in the last world cup had six obvious captains in the team and a supporting cast who will be the backbone of their sport for a generation.
The current football team has one obvious leader, but who among them would be willing or capable of leading their sport.
Too many of the footballing side are inconsequential in their club sides and if that's because foreigners are keeping them out, so be it.
True leaders wouldn't allow themselves to be kept out, they'd leave the high profile club who won't play them and join a more unfashionable one that would, and what's more make their new club a winning club.
If each club in the EPL had one leading English player, those players would have fought so hard to earn their place, that the English national side would be all conquering.

Absolute rubbish. Brooking is a dinosaur still living in the 70s/80s. The reason the national side is so poor is that we have a crap manager with no imagination or tactical nous, players ( young millionaires) who don't seem to be able to get motivated and a press that is seeking to permanently undermine the team at every given opportunity.

Certainly is hard to see where the Premiership is going with this mass of imports. A very small number of teams in all the leagues are showing a full English team. The mass of foreigners in the top flight must affect the England team setup. Can't see how, with EU regulations, you can cut the imports.

Its because of a few factors put together
1) A lot of senior players take their places for Granted
2)The players are not sure of what formation they actually started with
3) Tactics are compromised on to make sure the big players get to play
4) Lack of a Complete Striker ( Van Nistelrooy Mould)
Otherwise there is abundant talent in England. They jus need a dictator kinda coach. Someone like Scolari who thinks more bout the team than individuals.

No I don't think so. Typical always passing the buck onto someone else. There aren;t a lot of England players that are good enough. But McClaren has got Jermaine Defoe there who is fit and not on suspension but just like Jol he won't start him he has come on as a sub. LET HIM PLAY!!!!!!!!
As England if they can't play as a team then they are not going far. I'm not being horrible this is how I feel sorry to people who don't like it.
