So your paying $28,000,000 for a bum in Roger Clemons, while the Pads are only paying $10,000,000 for the Professor Greg Maddux. So who would you rather have right now? A guy who comes into the season 3 months into it and doesn't travel with the team or Maddux? Your thoughts...

I dont think the is Apples & Oranges at all. Gred Maddux is over .500 and last a lot longer then the "Rocket", which helps out your bullpen a lot more. And considering the way the Yanks bullpen has been this year, besides the great Joba!!! Im just trying to say the Yanks were dumb for offering that type of contract for a player who no longer has it!!!

I am a Yankee fan but you are comparing apples to oranges. First Roger pitches in the American league which is much stronger than the National league. I'm not sure how Maddux would do if the roles were reversed.

Are you insane? The American league is a lot better than the National league this year. We can tell you really follow baseball. If you can't see the difference then you shouldn't even be posting anything about Baseball.

Clemens hasn't missed a game this year he was late for one game when he wasn't pitching and that was to attend a funeral. Also, would Maddux be doing as well in a ball park other than Petco? Lets get real thats almost as big as Yellowstone Park. The Yankees have a lot of power arms in their minor league system, having Clemens travel back to the bigs and teaching these youngsters about pitching is more beneficial than any pitching from either Clemens or Maddux. So based on this alone I would still go with Clemens. Not to mention he is a leader in the clubhouse and adds emotion and energy to the clubhouse. I don't obviously think he is worth the money he is being paid. Maddux also struggles in the playoffs. Clemens pitches well against Boston and as a Yankee fan that is VERY important

I agree with Sandman. There's no way to give a definite yes or no on Maddux because the American and National League are totally different. Maddux has never pitched in the American League before so it would be a total adjustment for him. I wish Clemens had Maddux's durability but who's to say that Maddux wouldn't be having a difficult year also if he were in the AL?

First, he travels with the Yankees. They said that he's stayed with the team throughout all the roadtrips, however, now that he may miss a start, it will be one of the first times. Throughout the season, Roger Clemens has helped groom many of the yankees young arms like Ian Kennedy and Joba Chamberlain, even Kyle Farnsworth. But if I had the choice to have a pitcher right now, pending injury, I would take Clemens. They are sure Hall of Famers, and they're both having average years, but Clemens is my main man. I'd Rather see the Yankees sign Roger Clemens than trade for some starting pitcher like Steve Trachsel or Mark Buehrle and give another Team Joba or Ian.

Maddux is 11-9 this year (Not .500) and more importantly in his last 5 starts has 4 wins and a no decision (which they still won 3-1). So he is pitching well when it counts.

Also American/National League is BS. Good pitchers get batters out. No matter which league. No one studies batters more that Maddux.

Couple years ago I am taking Clemens, but this year it would be Maddux hands down.

I hated the Idea of the Yanks getting Clemens. There were rumors that the Red Sox were also interested so in a panic move they probably thought they were doing the best thing for the franchise. I hate the whole Idea of it. It just caters to the prima donna attitude that Clemens has evolved into and overpays for an ordinary pitcher that he is. I would rather have Maddux.

Well, if I based my decision on very recent job preformance I would say that I would rather have Maddux.
(when you get towards the end of the season where every game counts in the pennant race- it really is the power to come through for the team that counts - you could have been the top pitcher in the history of baseball but if you cannot throw those strikes you may as well give up the ball to someone who can)
