Look at drainage, flooding, privacy, safety pulling onto the street, level or sloped, view and distance to employment at current and future jobs. Also look at soil quality for gardening and anything else important to you.

It depends on what you want out of a lot/location.

Near the golf course will be more noisy with all the golfers and golf balls througout the day.

If you want a quieter more private place, look into a corner or end of cull de sac or circle lot. Usually the corner lots are going to be a little bit bigger than the ones in the middle of the block.

Near the golf course (if there is one) will be more expensive.

You look at the lots that are available, and choose the one you like best.

I'm a little unsure why you are asking people here.
