You forgot about the 6 or 7 cars parked on the lawn. I've always wondered that myself. My guess is so they can show off how well they're doing to all their friends!

I have lived in a trailer twice in my life and had old mismatched furniture and a 13" TV so I have no idea why some people feel the need to live in a not very nice house but have the most expensive TV or stereo on the market.

Hey, everyone has the right to live the American dream. Rather have someone in a trailer have a big screen and satellite dish then someone with a 5000 square foot house, 2 BMR's and a couple of jet skis talking about they can't afford health coverage.

Hmm... well, we just recently bought a brand new trailer, and I can say, it definitely wasn't cheap! We have a big screen tv (which was won as a prize in a draw) and have satellite (which everyone does in this day and age), has nothing to do with living somewhere cheap and having the money to buy things. $1400/month isn't cheap where I live anyway...

Not everyone does. It has to do with what a person wants in life or their priorities. Some people really don't care about living in a big house or having name brand cloths but they like having other things like a nice car or big screen TVs.

Those are prerequisites to being trailer trash, as mandated by the government. No satellite, big screen or engine block/old refrigerator in the front yard, no welfare checks or food stamps. They have to maintain the eligibility.

and, outside a Ford pickup, 2 ATVs and a couple of pit bulls chained to the side of the trailer, an old Styrofoam ice chest and a partial 6 pack of Bud Lite laying on the grass next to the chain link fence, and old parts for a v8 motor laying all over the dirt-packed driveway, overgrown with weeds!

Now, that accurately describes the trailer in the mobile home park much better, doesn't it?

They have these things, simply because they can, its a sign of the times, especially to their surrounding neighbors, who also have similar types of junk strewn on the ground in front of their trailers in the park.

Isnt it obvious, they dont spend that much if they live in a trailer. You can start by cleaning the whole trailer its more time consuming if you clean a whole garage than clean a trailer therefore its less expenses because you dont have to buy a lots of cleaning materials.

I wasn't aware that they did. I always though that people lived in trailers because it was a cheep way to own your own home. But if they do so what. 1.1 million other Americans have big screens and satellites....

It's a money issue common with the poor. What they save in monthly living expenses, seems like a wealth and they think they can afford things like that. I used to be the same way. I lucked out with my first place after moving out of my parents place. I rented a house for $600 a month. What a deal right? After a few months of that, I thought I was rich. I got all of this expensive stuff thinking I had money to burn. After a couple years, I had to move and when it came time to pay almost three times what I was paying for a one bedroom apartment, reality hit my bum hard.

because we dont have to pay a big @ss mortgage, so we can afford to have nice stuff everywhere else! hence my brand new Nissan Versa, and my 52" big screen tv (that we paid cash for), actually we have a tv,dvd-vcr,and video game system of some sort in every room of our "trailer" so i dont think its a bad thing!

and not everyone that owns a trailer lives in a trailer park, we have private land in the mountains!!!!!!
