It means that you've been told something that makes you feel really good and happy.
Generally a person says 'It sounds like music to my ears.' when someone else solves a problem they've been struggling with and it turns out to be really easy. It could also be used when a person is told something they really want to hear - like hearing all the lottery numbers you have on your lottery ticket could be considered 'music to your years'.
Hope this helps.

Something that is making you cheerful - here's a box of candy..that is 'music to your ears'. Playing by ear is something else and means improvisional methods to hear what you want to hear.
