3 times now Norton Anti-virus has alerted me that it has blocked a worm. It says it is a medium risk, and it has something to do with googletoolbar.query something or other.

What kind of worm is this, and why am I being targeted? Is there something I need to do?

You have to understand what worm is in Computer. It is just like a virus, but actually not virus. Norton anti-virus or any other Virus detection software automatically delete and clean the viruses. As Worm is different it is telling you about hat. You have to update the Norton Software regularly so that you do not face the difficulty.

Now let us see what is Virus and Worm and the difference in between. -

A virus is a program that is designed to spread from file to file on a single pc, it does not intentionally try to move to another pc, and it must replicate, and execute itself to be defined as a virus.

A worm is designed to copy itself (intentionally move) from pc to pc, via networks, internet etc.

A worm doesnt need a host file to move from system to system, whereas a virus does.

So worms spread more rapidly then viruses.

The word 'Virus' has become a common term a lot of people use to refer to worms and trojans too. Which is not exactly correct.-

Have you instructed Norton with the "settings" to remove the worm?

Start Norton and check all the settings tabs.

It might also be that you have not upgraded the Norton "definitions" as it is advised that it be done once a week to keep on top of all the new crap that is floating around.

Upgrade Norton immediately, if you can't, then your Norton software may be either unregistered or it is HOT!!!

In that case, THAT'LL TEACH YA.

A person of your "smarts" should know that there are many good AntiVirus, Worm removers, Ad crunchers, Trojan piggybackers, and all kinds of vermin around to foul-up your life, if you have one that is.

Keep smiling, it takes less effort to smile than to frown.

thats good, your anti-virus able to blocked a worm before it enters or activate into your system. you have open a sites probably a pop-up, that has an adware or virus, if this things keep appearing, clean-up or delete all your cookies and all internet temporary files. you can clear it, from tools menu>> internet options....adware, malware, or virus trying to invade your system, normally stays in there...

As a top contributor I would think you would know it when you are infected with a Virus/Trojan/Spyware and or Adware.

You have some work to do in order to get rid of what sounds like a lot of "crap" on your computer.
