In-laws, parents, friends, everyone is constantly saying how my son is such a "good" baby because he rarely cries, entertains himself, smiles often, etc. I really don't like the phrase good baby but I get what they are saying. Is a baby "bad" if he/she does cry a lot, fussy, etc? I'm going to have to say no. How about you?

I hate that word too. I generally say- content baby or well-adjusted baby. I don't think any baby is good or bad. They are all wonderful. It doesn't matter on how they act.

My son is the same way and people often tell us how good he is. I agree with them, but I think it's only because he doesn't know how to be a little hellraiser yet. :) I don't think babies are good or bad just yet. Babies are fussy when they have a reason to be, whether something is bothering them or it's just their nature. All babies are wonderful though!

They wouldn't call that a "BAD" baby, that would be considered a "difficult" baby. My girl is a good baby, too...though now at 6 months she's found her voice and starting to try out throwing fits. I don't consider her a bad baby but she is certainly more difficult than the little self-pacifying bundle of joy that was my girl a month ago.

I don't believe in the good/bad phrases either. When I had my daughter 3 years ago..she hardly cried. She didn't sleep through the night though, lol. I think it is based on mothers' opinions. My daughter is very well behaved, and YES I do spoil her.

No, no baby is 'bad'. I think by saying 'good' they really mean your baby is content and easygoing. Describing him as 'good' isn't necessarily correct, but it's a word everyone has always used and just stuck.

What they really mean is that you have an "easy" baby. Lucky you!
