I can't hear that idiotic argument anymore, that we have to stay in Iraq and Afghanistan, because the Terrorist would follow our troops.
That argument is getting so stale, its pathetic.
9/11 was a colossal failure of our inteligence (CIA, FBI), our non exciting airport security and Condo Rice, who was responsible for it.
The 19 turban wearing idiots, who caused the damage, would not have a snowball chance in hell today.
What's your opinon?

Bush himself declared, Iraq is like Vietnam, just last week.

didn't you hear?

Bushies now believe that we didn't stay LONG ENOUGH in Vietnam. That Nixon must have "cut and run", and LBJ's resolve just wasn't strong enough.

I believe this will distinguish Bush as this generations LBJ, an unpopular leader whose disastrous foreign policy qualifies him for a position as one of the worst presidents in US history.

It just seems impossible for some people to understand the fact that not all problems can be solved with infinite time, superior force and technology, and raw military strength.

They did come here at least twice.
1. 9/11
2. The WTC bombing

How many times did North Vietnam come here and kill us on our soil? None

That is the difference if you were paying attention.

BTW: Rice was not responible for 9/11 we ALL had a hand it. Both Democrats and Republicans.

You are right they can't ever take a plane again but there is more than one way to make a terrorist attack.

The whole idea of "If we stop fighting them there they will follow us here" is just some made-up bogeyman to frighten Americans into supporting the war.

What evidence is there for this? None.

What predictions have the administration made* which have turned out to be right? None.

*except the ones made by Cheney in 1992 about what a disaster it would be for us to invade Iraq and oust Saddam.

"If we leave Iraq, then the terrorist will follow us home" is a sophism and a slippery slope.

The communist didn't follow us home. And its stupid to assume Iraq...Al-Quida...Islamic fundamentalist....or whoever the hell we are fighting over there...is going to follow us home. Just like a puppy.

This argument have no substance, no proof, or no logical reasoning for believing it is true.

Why is this accepted as a valid argument? This argument is too vague to be taken serious.

None. You are totally right. The whole we fight them over there so we don't have to fight them here is as much of a scam as it was during the Vietnam war.
Most of the insurgents currently fighting in Iraq are not al quaida but it's about regional power struggles that have been going on for centuries.Shiites against Sunni's but also Persians against Arabs. They have no interest coming here

Honestly I dont think it would happen. But there are already signs of complacency. If we spent as much on actually watching our airports seaports and borders as we have on this Iraq war it would pretty much be impregnable. Yes and the fight them there arguement holds no water whatsoever either.

Whether you admit it or not, our presence in Vietnam did stop the spread of communism.
As far as the terrorists of today following us home. What more proof do you need than 9/11? It's a different world and they do have the means to come here...as I think they've proved.

BTW...can you recall how many died because we left Vietnam and do you recall how they died and by whom

This one is more deadly than all the communists put together.I don't think America can be called a safe place for many years to come.It seems you haven't realized the magnitude of the problem and the degree of threat-perception for America.

We will always have terrorist here and everywhere else. We need to get rid of the major Terrorists groups. If we get their leader they wont be as strong.most of them are followers not leaders.

There were allot of communist Vietnamese that came to America after we left Vietnam. What has happened to their beliefs are questionable but their religion is strong and non believers even stronger!

Sorry the truth bothers you so much but the Vietnamese never threatened to strike at us in our Country, and the radical Islamists repeat those threats with every breath.

Do you really think that every Iraqi who supported the Allied efforts in Iraq won't be slaughtered?

Do you really want to turn over 1/5th of the world's oil supply to Iran, knowing full well that they want to deprive the US of our very right to exist?
