My Heritage hangs up in third gear shifting to 4th on the way up and shifting to 2nd on way down. It requires moderate acceleration to higher RPM to be able to shift. Is this the beggining of the failure of the tranny or just some sort of adjustment that needs to be made or too tough to tell? Only 11K miles and well taken care of. I thought the warranty was 36 months and found out it is 24 months. Any suggestions?

For those who think the miles are pretty low... lived in Northern Michigan until recently. Won the rookie award in my HOG group for miles in a year in 05. new baby born last fall, now live in Minneapolis... hard to ride in blizzard.

its a minor adjustment, if you buy the manual ($60 to $100) you can do it yourself.

sounds like a bent shifter fork to me. Not uncommon on Harleys, especially if you tend to shift hard. Yes, factory warranty is 2 years, inside that two years you can purchase the extended warranty. I don't recall if you can after your warranty expires. Only 11000 miles in two years? You need to get more riding time in!! I average a minimum of 1000 miles a month not counting long trips on my Ultra Glide. Make sure your getting your foot totally off the shifter before you go for adjustment. You may not be letting the shifter to reset for the next shift.
