Love going to the post-office in our tiny rural town...the postmistress is a neighbor, the mail sorter/carrier is a wealth of information about what's going on [events, not gossip!] and since I got those Liberty Bell Forever stamps in a big quantity, I only have to go in there for packages and friendliness. Since I've ordered books from the UK in sufficient quantities that they arrive in a Royal Mail sack with custom-tags all over, the folks at the PO can hardly wait to see what's coming next for us. They kept the bag as a souvenir, too! The carrier drives a 4WD jeep and 80-90% of her route is on gravel [unpaved] roads...she's only had to skip us three times in 10 years, and all 3 were because of ice-storms where nobody could get out anyway for 5 days.

I go to the post office to buy my stamps but haven't been in quite a while now since I pay almost all bill via the Internet. The last stamps I bought were one cent make-up stamps to add the two cent increase to the stamps I had on hand.
I used to have a post office about four blocks away. A couple of years ago, I got a letter in the mail telling me they were closing that post office and "for my convenience" were opening a new and bigger post office 6 miles away. I kind of got a chuckle out of that.

I actually do not mind buying my stamps at either place, BUT if I need only a couple, I will generally just get them at the store, but if I want the boklet, I always go to the post office and buy them, as I also like to see the different choices of stamps and whatnot, and besides there are always other collectible items at the post office as well to see/buy. I also enjoy going to the post office every once in a while, as it is just nice to see the smiling faces, and the people are friendly there. As a little girl, I can remember going to the post office with my grandparents, as they went every day to get their mail and whatnot, it has always been a fascinating place, with a lot of history.

I found a small post office near where I work. There's like a little village in the city. It was really built for shipyard workers to live back in the 30's I believe. But hardly anyone uses it...or even knows its there. The two BIG post offices within 2 miles of my house are always busy. Last Christmas I went in to the Craddock PO and didn't spend 5 minutes in there.
Sometimes I only need a couple of stamps...the grocery sells them by the book.

I prefer going to the post office for the reason you mentioned but it's across town and faster to buy at the grocery. However if you don't have the correct bills you will get your change back in one dollar coins or quarters.
I have 2 Elvis and 3 Lucille Ball stamps. I would love to get a Jimmy Stewart one too. Thanks for the tip!.

I buy mine at the post office too. I really don't buy many stamps as i use on line banking for bills. It seems every time I buy a book of stamps, I never get to use them all before the prices go up~!
I like our post office, it is self serve and you can use your debit card to pay for things and special services.

I go to the grocery when in a hurry, the lines at the Post Office are always so long. At Christmas I go to the Post Office for sure, I like the one with a Christmas theme on my Christmas cards. One year for Christmas I got my sons star or theme stamps.
Marilyn Monroe for one and Cartoon for the other and had them framed. They still have them in their homes today.

The lines are so long at the post office, I just find it easier to buy stamps at the grocery store.
