I haven't found any websites that give any definitive answer so does that mean that the trilogy might go to HD-DVD?

A hi-def holdout for the longest time, the LOTR studio, New Line, announced it would be releasing titles on both hi-def formats a couple of months ago, starting with the new Hairspray! movie. However, I wouldn't hold my breath on a huge series like LOTR coming out right away, as the installed user base is very small and the studio is just wetting their feet in the new formats.
