Real short, had a get together at my house, one of my girlfriends hubby has a very professional job, nice guy, very respectful, great father. His wife who is a very dear friend is quite heavy, but very pretty and is alot of fun. We try to support her to lose the weight, but I guess she will do it when she's ready. Anyway, she was walking down to the pool area and started to dance, her husband made the comment to me and another girlfriend of calling it an "EARTHQUAKE" I felt so bad that he said that about her (his own wife). He meant it. Me and my other friend didn't say a word. I hate to say anything cuz I don't know him like I know her, but we can all see he isn't happy with her at all because of her weight. He admires the rest of us but not his wife and she is so perfect in every other way. Should I tell him off or just let them work out their own problems?

Well, since I grew up with a very overweight best friend....I'd of been personally offended and told him that I find such comments very disrespectful to both me and the person who they pertain to. I'd go on to quietly explain (as I wouldn't want to cause a scene) that there is more to a person than their weight and that he doesn't deserve to have such a fine person as a wife. And too let that be the last derogatory thing that he ever shares with me about her and I'll keep my mouth shut because I love her enough to never want to see her hurt. And walked away.

Maybe that's why she has a hard time losing weight. I bet he makes the same comments to her. When you talk down to someone like that they have a harder time losing the weight cause they feel bad about themselves even more then they already do. Call her up and tell her you would like to start going for walks and want a walk partner someone to talk to while walking. Don't mention the weight. If she gets into walking the pounds Will start to come off. But, her husband is an a** as far as I can tell!!!!

Perhaps talking to him when she isn't around would be a good idea...tell him that making comments such as he did about the woman he supposedly loves are cruel and hurtful....don't say anything to him in front of her...I am sure she is embarrassed enough already. What a jerk she is married to.

I've lost alot of friends by being too outspoken, but i havent changed, i would let him know there is a better way to say things, and especially to his wife, that is uncalled for, hit him with both guns,(your mouth) i would....

Let them work out their problems but ther is nothing wrong with you telling him you dont appreciate comments like that about your friend. Atleast he wont say it around you.
