Assuming Obama wins the nomination -- and for the moment, Hillary is still the prohibitive favorite -- he should take someone qualified (as opposed to someone with the qualifications of, say, George W. Bush) from a Western State, because many of them are close to turning from red to blue, unlike the South, where, except for Virginia, they're not that close. Of the two choices you gave, neither comes close. Richardson far more closely fits the bill (no pun intended).
But of the two you listed, Biden would be better, because he knows more, his experience is more diversified, and he doesn't take any crap from right-wing fanatics -- look up how he handled the Robert Bork nomination for the Supreme Court in 1987. Having Biden on the ticket would also, as Cheney did for Bush in 2000, take some of the edge off the question of Obama's (supposedly) insufficient experience.
Edwards let Cheney walk all over him in the 2004 VP debate; if he can't out-debate that lying gasbag, how's he going to outdebate Giuliani or whoever is nominated (for President or VP) this time? I like Edwards, but he would be a drag on the ticket, in either slot.

Obama and Edwards are too far left to win. Personally I like Joe Biden because he has the guts it takes to be President, not run as Obama's VP. Obama is far too inexperienced to do a good job in Washington especially in these times.

Obama "Osama" (as Senator Ted Kennedy calls him) won't get the nomination. Hillary will. Not picking sides - just telling you how it is.
Hillary will pick Obama as a running mate.
She has about a 50/50 chance of making it with Obama as VP.
I personally don't think we need another Clinton in the White House, especially one that couldn't fix health care back in 93. But that is my personal opinion.

McCain is so far from Obama, Hillary and Biden's positions on almost every issue that any Hillary Clinton supporter who votes for John McCain only does so out of spite. And by saying so, they dishonor the one person that they pledged to support. Senator Clinton would not be proud of you for supporting McCain. ______________________________________... EDIT: Upon reading the responses from many of the people who have replied, there are an astounding number of people proudly displaying their sour grapes. How sad.

They all vow they will only run as President- until they lose the nomination and are asked to join the ticket as co-pilot.
It could still be Edwards asking Obama to join his ticket.
