I've been getting a phone call every sunday afternoon for the past month now from the number 888-888-8888. I answered it one time and there was a women on the line with a heavy jamaican accent telling me i won 2000 dollars. It just annoys me because i know it's bullshit and immediatly she wants all of my information so i tell her no. If she calls again i'll ask to be removed from the calling list. I dont know if this has happened to anyone on yahoo answers. Another time i kept getting phone calls from an area code with a plus sign in front of it so i went on google and typed it in. that number came up as one that was being involved in a phone scam originating from Jamaica and they use a fake US area code somehow like theyre really calling you from the United States! If they don't take me off theyre calling list what can i do?

Never got that call myself - but - go to this link.. works for me, I get no spam!

Visit www.donotcall.gov to do any of these things:
-- Put your number on the official "Do not call" list.
-- to renew your registration before it expires
-- to file a complaint

Hope this helps! Good luck :)

The "do not call" registry, like mentioned above, is a great place to start.

Also, for future reference, any number that shows up with a plus sign in front of the number means that it is from another country outside the U.S. (for example, from Germany it would show up +49-0555-555-5555.... the first three numbers being the real numbers you would see).

Block the nuber. Call your phone company and they will give you a "star" number to call. On your phone you press * and then the number, then you enter the number you want blocked. Simple.

ATT uses *67. I'm not sure about the others though.

1) The phone company may have a procedure: ask them
2) Police
3) Use a noise maker e.g. gas powered making a very loud noise.
