Well i have never been stuck in one but i am afraid of them. They might fall. Plus, i hate when the door squeaks and sounds weird.

I've been stuck inside and on top of many elevators. It's an occupational hazard when you install elevators for a living.
I hope that I can rid you of some of your fear of an elevator falling. All modern day elevators have safeties (large steel jaws that stop an elevator in its tracks) that engage when the car overspeeds. A governor that's attached to the car by a seperate cable detects overspeed and first trips an electrical and, if needed, a mechanical free fall protection system.
However, before you ever reach this point, about 30 other safety devices (switches, tach feedback, cpu's, selector, etc.) would have to all fail at the same time before the governor trips and you grind to a halt via the jaws on the safety plank.
It just don't happen. In fact, the only case known where this happened was during WWII when a bomber plane colided with the empire state building and one of the engines tore through the building and cut all of the cables including the governor cable. The woman in the car just died about 6 years ago. Yes, she survived the freefall of about 50 floors because all of the cable and debris piled up in the bottom and cushioned her fall.
Unfortunately, when you get stuck in an elevator, more often than not, it's due to one of the 30+ safety systems being out of whack and telling the computer to shut the car down until it's back 'in whack'. Nothing dangerous about it. One of the safest places in the world is the inside of an elevator.
Statistically speaking, you have a much better chance of being struck by lightning while holding the winning power ball lottery ticket than to ever find yourself inside of a falling elevator.

Yes, I was in San Antonio, Texas and at the top of an elevator that went to a restaurant and it got stuck about 3 floors into the decent and it was August. I could not breathe and had to sit on the floor before I passed out. They got it moving again in about 20 minutes and it was sooo hot in there and about 20 other people. I was scared to death.

I've been stuck in an elevator either 2 or 3 times (I can't remember which), once for over an hour. However, I'm not afraid of them; I use them pretty much every day.

No. I love elevators. The only time I ever felt a jolt of fear, was after the fact. I took the elevator in the John Hancock in Chicago (home) to the top. You have to change half of the way up. I stepped in pushed the button. The doors closed and then they opened. I thought something was wrong, then I glanced out, and I was at the halfway point. I nearly fainted.

♥ I've never been stuck in one but I am severly afraid of them! I also fear that they might fall [[or get stuck]], but mostly fall. When you are going up [[or down]] and you hear it making noises & it seems like its shaking... *shudders* I cant stand elevators. When I do have to get on an elevator I slowly, very gently step in, put my hand on the rail & squeeze it, close my eyes & whisper "please keep me safe" and practically hold my breath the whole ride... by the end of the ride [[even if its only one floor]] I am shaking & pale. And forget me riding in it if there is more than 1 [[possibly 2]] other people than me. I wont even get on it... or I'll get off of it.

Got stuck in elevator at Country fest right when my man George (George Strait) was on. I was five months pregers with second child. It sucked We were only stucked for maybe 15 minutes. But elevator was over crowed 15+ people

Yes, I have been stuck in an elevator. Unfortunately, the person I would have wanted to be stuck with me wasn't there. No I was not afraid.

Yes I have and my boss wouldnt believe me that I was stuck in an elevator and couldnt make it back to work for the after noon. I thought it was funny untill the Big guy beside me desided to let one go and I couldnt get out of the elevator. Wow did that stink!

Yeeeeees. I had got stuck on a hotel glass elevator. The one's with the windows. Everybody saw us jumping and screaming and I coulda sworn someone was recording us(me and my sister. I was 6). It is hella funny today, but it was scary then, because were up on the highest floor to get stuck on. An hour and a half later we were rescued
