Here's my "two cents" on this nickel business . . .

The Buffalo Nickel was minted from 1913 to 1938. If yours is so worn that you cannot read the date, it is worth about fifteen cents to someone who will use it to decorate a western belt or hatband. If the date is readable, its value could range from 50 cents to several thousand dollars, depending on the date, mintmark, and condition.

Actually that's a good general statement, but not true. The actual amount of nickel in the coin is worth less then 5 cents. It's the accepted currency amount for the coin that registers it as valued at 5 cents. Also some older nickels can be worth much more then 5 cents. Some nickels have been sold for as much as $100.00 and more.

a nickel USED to be about 5.oo actually, but it's gone up a Lot since then. Now your lucky if you can get anything for a fiver.
