Pasadena to Santa Barbara, 120 miles, on a 1978 Honda XL350.

Next time I try a trip of that length, I'm going to use a motorcycle that's a bit heavier and doesn't have so much engine vibration. Much as I loved the XL350, the "wobble" on the rain grooves is a bit nerve-wracking, and the vibration got to be exhausting after only 20 miles.

The longest trip, 6,000 miles. The longest stretch without sleep, 1,200 miles from Tampa to Missouri in March. Warm in Florida, pea soup fog in Georgia and snow and subfreezing temps in Missouri. The longest stretch with 4 hours sleep, 1,800 miles. The most enjoyable times? 150-200 mile days exploring the countryside, going to a rodeo, museums, etc. Riding across the country isn't the same as seeing and experiencing the country.

MCRD, San Diego, CA to Minneapolis, MN to DeKalb, IL and back. All in 13 days.
The snow in the Rockies was 6+ feet on either side of the road, but it was like 50 degrees out. Just incredibly beautiful.

700 miles in one day. From Des Moines, IA to Traverse City, MI. 70 degree start, 85 degree high, through cold front, last 3 hrs 45 degrees, 39 degrees @ arrival. COLD, wouldn't trade it for the world though. Love the ride, ride hard, enjoy every moment of it.

I haven't taken a long trip.
Day ride - 850 or so miles.

I'm still waiting for the freedom from my responsibilities. Then I'll get to travel.
