Does anyone know where to find the paint color number on a 2000 Grand Prix. I just want to buy a bottle of touch-up paint. I have called our body shop and been to the parts store. The number is not where the body shop said it would be and the guy at the parts store couldn't find it. So far I have looked under the trunk lid, driver and passenger doors, in the glove box, in the console storage compartment, and under the hood with no luck. Found stickers with all kinds of numbers but so far no color. You would think the manufacturers would pick a spot and stick to it, but no that would make too much sense.

It is on the underside of the cover that is over the spare tire.
Also check under the console lid.

GM - Cars - 1985 and newer the codes are in the trunk. They will be either under the rug, on top of the spare tire, or underneath the trunk lid. The codes will be on a white sticker about 3" x 4". The paint codes will be all the way on the bottom of the sticker. They are called "WA" numbers on a GM. They will consist of either 4 numbers or 3 numbers and a letter. (ex. wa8779, wa279e). The letters "WA" do not always appear, the numbers may be prefaced by bc/cc, L, or U, for upper and lower colors.

The absolutely free reverse vin check sites generally provide fake information. To get real information, money will have to be paid. The free searches provide fake information so they can get your email address to send spam.

Stay away from shady reverse vin check sites, most likely you won't get any information after you make the payment. Not to mention you won't get a report and you won't get an answer if you try to call for a refund. Stick with a reputable reverse vin check site like http://www.reversevincheck.net that has been around since 1995.

the dealership can find out exact color by using your VIN number.
The problem is though, your original paint is faded some and the touch up paint will not match exact.
