A guppy breeding problem?

If I get one male and two females hom many fry will I get? i want to make sure there won't be too many

If you mix males and females, you will probably get too many fry for your tank, whether you stay with your 8 gallon tank or get an 80 gallon one. Guppies breed extremely rapidly, and while you may only get a few surviving fry from the first breeding, if you keep your male and female guppies together, you will eventually have too many unless you remove them. If you don't want to bother with the fry/keeping the tank at a good level of fish, a suggestion would be to get all male guppies; though they may nip each other's fins, they can usually be kept together safely, and often the males are much more attractive looking than the females.

There's no way of knowing how many fry a female can have at any certain time. You can get anywhere from 1 to 25. Set up a breeding net or put some thick floating plants in the water. Some fry will inevitably get eaten if they're not completely separated from adult fish.

Sometimes females can have fewer fry if they are in a stressful environment. But then you run the risk of harming your fish and having her abort the pregnancy completely, ending up with no fry and unhappy fish.

There is no way of knowing how many fry you get, because each female can have up to 6 batches of fry, even without a male beeing around

If you don't want any fry you can make a males only tank, that way you don't have to worry about it

If the female is young it can be anywhere from 5-20 fry, but a batch of fry up to 50 is not impossible

The gestation period is 28 days for all livebearers, so you would have fry about once a month from each
