It is recommended between 4-6 months, but that also depends on the baby. I statred my son around 3 1/2 to 4 months of age. When baby is able to you can also mix baby food, (fruit) of what your baby will eat. This gives the cereal more taste to the baby, and the baby is more likely to eat it as it will taste sweeter. Also when giving baby cereal, this will also help keep the babys' stomach fuller for a little longer period of time, and may help keep baby more content a little longer. Also note that once you start from fluids to foods, the babys' bowel movements may be more formed, so do not be alarmed, just watch that baby does not get constpated. Some people are not aware of why their baby has a change in bowel movements, and then they realize that they changes their babys' diet. Well good luck.

Your baby will tell you when she is ready to start eating cereals.
By this I mean that your baby will become dissatisfied with just a bottle.
Mine wanted more when she was 4 months old. I eventually tried cereal and it worked very well.
At first, she would wake too often during the night demanding a feed, but as soon as I started giving her a cereal, she started sleeping through.

6 months, was what was recommended by our physician. While I think it might be ok (Im not a doc, but have had stomach aches) for some to start earlier, I didnt because I didnt want to cause my babies any pain or discomfort, just to get an earlier start. The docs said to wait until 6 months, because breastmilk was best nutrionally, and solids like cereal, may not be ready to be digested, and can cause stomach problems. Plus the stuff about it making them sleep better, appeared to be an ol wives tale.

4 months is when a lot of people start cereal. It just gets the baby used to eating something other than formula/breast milk... it is more practice than anything. It also helps get the child full if milk just isn't cutting it anymore. It isn't necessary to start immediately if they are satisfied with their formula or breast milk. It is of course always best to ask the advice of their pediatrician, because all babies develop at different rates.

My son's doctor starts most of her patients at 4 months, but with my son I had to wait until about 6 months because he was born almost 3 months early. Doctors don't always agree so it is best to always check with your own child's doctor.

usually somewhere between 4 & 6 months. It is really something you should talk to your doctor about. You should also be aware of any allergies that are in yours and your baby's father's family.
