Ha! now -- this is my area! We live so rurally -- the reaches of PG&E do not reach us ! We have 2 giant generators that power us up! Like our own little - but they aren't little at all Pg&E mini plants, so if power is out - mine is on--in the process of battery back up and solar to pair with generators. They have their down times too- and thats bad! furel is costly - so thats why at bed time they are off. We have to powe up again every morning. Genny's run about 5am to 11pm - at least and later if i am the only adult in the house!

Call KU, light a candle, watch the storm and call friends. Or play flashlight hide and seek with my kids and tell ghost stories.

Its the perfect time to have "family time". No computers, video games or TV to distract anyone. Share time remembering good or funny family experiences. And rekindle lost family time. It will be a time ALL will remember and before you know it the power is back on!

Usually I leave and go to a friend's house that has power. I used to use a flashlight to make shadow puppets on the wall when I was little.

This actually happened to me the other day, and it occurred at the most inconvenient time...while I was in the bathroom. I just sat there, freaked out because it was pitch black and I couldn't see a damn thing, wondering what to do, but it finally came back on a minute later.

I cuddle with my stepdaughter. And my hudsband (if he's around) then he goes into my room not painicing, and grabs the baby. We sit on the couch and I take a DVD and put it in our portable DVD player and my hudsband usually takes a nap and I use my laptop. We are all calm.

Connect up with the Power and Beauty that is already in the storm.
Watch it in the dark and let it power up my imagination.
