I would tell your mom, she knows best. You don't need to be embarrassed, your mom is a girl, she will understand. I wouldn't use anything you found in the medicine cabinet before finding out what is going on with your body.

Since you are a virgin - there are several things we can delete from the possibilities.

Likely this is a yeast infection.

The period changes the pH of the vagina to neutral (blodd is, of course, neutral pH) and favors yeast.

While some OTC (over the counter, that means you do not need a doctor's prescription to buy these) remedies will help symptoms - often you need a specific medication to fight the infection.

Monistat is OTC and will work great. Use it as directed (at night so it doesn't leak out).

If that doesn't work - make sure mom hasn't started using any new products.

Tide, Bounce are common offenders.

They cause an itch in the vagina more than other areas (sometimes) because that tissue is more susceptible to an allergic effect.

Ok you have an infection, check your discharge an odor, you have to tell your mom, she will know what medication to give you.
It is common to get infections and the treatment is also very normal, you will just have to apply a cream down there, it is very important you check this with your mom; otherwise your cervix can suffer some damage.

Vaginal Infections Overview
Vaginal infections, or vaginitis is an inflammation of the vagina that creates discharge, odor, irritation, or itching. It is difficult to diagnose because vaginitis has many causes. Women use a variety of over–the–counter medications to treat the itching, discharge, and discomfort of these conditions.

Good luck! ;D

Are you using tampons, especially scented ones? They can cause yeast infections. You should tell your mom, this can be cleared up very easily.
