actually, you will not add more water but would remove water from the 1 3/4 by 3/8 water so that it would be 1 3/8 water

ok to solve your problem will use this equation:

1 3/4 + x = 1 3/8

first let's convert the mixed fractions into improper ones.

7/4 + x = 11/8

let's transpose the left fraction to the right to isolate x,

x = 11/8 - 7/4

then we'll get the lcd of the two fractions

x = 11/8 - 14/8

x = -3/8

so actually you don't need to add more liquid, you actually need to pour out some in order to get from 1 3/4 down to
1 3/8.

When adding or subtracting fractions you need to break it down to the lowest common denominator. So here we go

1-3/4 = 7/4
1-3/8 = 11/8

the lowest common denominator would be 8 so to compare apples to apples

1-3/4 = 14/8
1-3/8 = 11/8

You would have to subtract 3/8 from 1-3/4 to get to 1-3/8.

those solutions are ridiculous. A cup is a cup is a cup - this is a quantity diploma. 250 ml. a million cup. in spite of the incontrovertible fact that, a cup of liquid and a cup of robust would or would possibly no longer WEIGH the comparable, finding on the liquid and robust in touch. while you're making rice, you need to use the comparable measuring cup for rice and water, purely diploma the rice first so it does not stick interior the cup.
