I will try to answer this question as accurately as possible. I am a Christian and I think you are wanting to understand why people ignore the truths of the bible.
There are two reasons. The first reason has to be a spiritual one. Satan really does not want people to learn about God. So he will try to intervene or obstruct in any way he can. He will try to stop people getting interested in reading the bible, or hearing about it. In fact he cheats. He will try to affect their minds, causing them to be disinterested, to doubt what they hear, to be obstinate, even to fight against it. So the first battle is against the works of satan, preventing him.
The next reason is intelligence. To be a Christian and believe in the events of the bible, we simply have to have faith. Intelligence wants to know why, how, can, did, and so on. God's power is such that we cannot know everything. We have to leap past the questions and BELIEVE.
Personally, I found it easy to believe that Christ was ressurrected from the dead!

I believe in science..to a certain point.
that is why we were given that ability to try and reason things out.
ok science is probably right in a lot of stuff but not all.
remember a big lot is still only theory and not proven
yes the humans has a lot to be desired when what they do to each other
but that is call free will
ask any scientist to explain the big bang, sure they will get deep into the subject .then ask him what was here before the big bang now this is where he starts to get lost, now ask him why the big bang in the first place,,he will probably try and change the subject..
I personally am science minded however there is something there that I cannot explain, its that feeling that you get you know there is something else at work here you could call that something god and you would probably be right.
anyway god loves a good argument, so do I.
You do not have to believe in God
For God Believes in You..

Yes one does want to make one's own descision. But we must consider all the things that would seem irrelevant to the purpose of god and the bibles teachings.
There is knowledge in the world that gods are made in our own image, and if we did not truly understand ourselves, the god would then be in turn flawed. If the christian God is so powerful, then what WOULD be the purpose in life. If your purpose is to simply believe in god and live with him, would we not be already be there with God, not on this world, which half of it is being torn apart by righteous religion/God worship, and the other half debates on morals and values, trying to heal the other side? Where does God come in for the children who die before they have even HEARD of any god, Is it equal? Is it fair? I ask you friend, do you believe tis is right?
I do not claim many things, even if I did, I would not prove them so, what about people who believe in both science, what we can do, and god at the same time?
I do not believe a god, who would love us so, would brand us to hell just for a little slip up, if it is so.
Yes, we do make our choices, but it should not be from a holy scripture or bible.

The lack of a clear understanding of science gleams through all that you say and all that your resource posits. Simply put, there is no science there. You cannot lift snippets and bits out of scientific evidence and tack them together with half-truths and suppositions and wishful thinking to create a coherent argument. That's what science fiction and fantasy writers do.
Believing in a theory does not have a blessed thing to do with one's purpose in life. Further, it does not follow that believing in a theory denies the reason for one's existance. Lastly, your stumbling from those two questions to a declaration of faith is inept and bumbling and deeply embarrassing to those who know how to conduct a rational discussion. Your "everyone has to make a choice" is no argument. It is an attempt to end a discussion by hastily avoiding the discussion. What you have completely and utterly failed to do is offer a single rational excuse for your posting in the first place.

I am afraid that you are making a similar mistake as that of your opponents. Science is not directly opposed to religion or vice versa. It is not black v. white or anything of the like. Even the most ardent of supporters for science can not prove the non-existence of God. Likewise the most religious can not truly prove the existence of God. Christians believe in a personal Omnipotent creator. If you believe that God created you does it mean that it is heresy to say that your parents also created you? Of course not. Science and religion deal with two levels of reality. Science tries to explain present reality, while religion tries to explain ultimate reality. It is possible that God created the universe and that the Big Bang Theory is also correct. Additionally scientists are not doing anything irreligious at all, because they are using the distinct mental abilities that God gave them in order to better understand His creation. If God only wanted people to read and follow the Bible than the only mental ability he would have given us is that of reading comprehension. But God gave us so much more and not to use it would be sin!

The website you list is nonsense. There are many scientific errors in the Bible. One can begin with pi being given as 3 in 2 places. I cannot use the Bible value in engineeering work I have done. From Genesis to Revelation, the sky is believed to be a solid dome a few miles above us. The ancient Greeks knew better than this. Aristarchus measured the distance to the Moon correctly as 238,000 miles and said the Sun was 5,000,000 miles away. That is short of the actual 93,000,000 miles, but he knew more than the authors of Revelation who imply the sky is 15 miles or less above us. There are many contradictions in the Bible too. As for purpose in life, I am free to make my own. I need no childish tale about gods that I doubted when I was age 7. The purpose of Christianity is to make its preachers rich.

How can you believe in something that is merely written in a book and has no hard evidences backing it, I, being an atheist, personally believe that we as human being have no definitive purpose in life, and we yourself create meaning to your lives, yes the Big Bang theory is possible, but it does not mean it's right, I don't know how we were created but looking at it from a scientific point of view, saying that we were dropped into the Garden of Eden by a superior being that we can neither see or communicate with, sounds a bit far fetched to me.

You don't have to be a christian or believe in god to have a purpose in life. You just need to go with your instincts believe in yourself to fulfil your ambitions and live by your principals. As far as i'm concerned the bible has nothing to do with it.. Unless you're a complete religious nut.
You can have faith in other things in life. Without having to have guidence from a book. How do you know god created man??? Were you there????? Evolution was prooved you know. And the dinosaurs existed 20 million years before people... So how did god create the world, create creatures wait til the dangerous ones die off and then create man..he waited a long time didn't he, what was he doing inbetween??? Sorry as u can tell i'm not religious !! And you say about how we do things he doesn't like. What about all the lives that are lost in the world unnecessarily. the amount of people that lose faith when their children die. If it makes you feel better to believe then do it. Your life! but my life is happy and content without him, And i don't need guidence from him... I choose my own path and my own way of life. Please don't take this as being disrespectful as i don't intend it to come across that way, Thats the life you have chosen for yourself and i respect that. But please don't come across that Christians have a purpose in life and the rest of us don't cos we dont' believe, Thats utter balony.

Most people ignore what the Bible says for many reasons. A few are listed below:
- In our society, people are very concerned with tangible goods, material wealth etc. They adopt this attitude to religion as well, so they will not believe in the Christian God until they actually see Him with their own eyes. Since religion is based on faith, most people find it hard to accept the idea of a God who loves you but cannot be seen.
- Some people disregard/mistake the events in the Bible as mere stories- not unlike Cinderella or one of Aesop's Fables. They have a message/lesson within it, but they are not to be taken seriously. The parting of the Red Sea and more of Jesus' miracles are considered incredible, and sometimes that 'incredibility' is not taken seriously.

If a person has a belief system does not necessarily a purpose in life.
And talking about one religion as being great is OK, but this might offend a lot of people.
And more to the point, the bible is just a book, and what we think is the bible is just a translation of a bad copy. It does not contain the original words of God, it has been made into some cheap manifest for a political church too keep power.
Please don't take my word for it, do some research.
And if you are wondering I am also a christian, but not as uptite as other followers of this religion.

"If you believe in the big bang theory, what is your purpose in life ? Why do you exist ? A Christian has a purpose in life and will attempt to follow the teachings given in the bible."
Therein lies your answer - Often religion is believed because people want a purpose - the hardest thing to deal with in life is accepting its not really about anything - i dont think its a concious decision with everyone, but the idea of getting rid of that fear, introducing a purpose in itself explains why so many people put faith in books that have been proven to be largely illogical, not saying it's wrong, but it's pretty see through
