Football is not like basketball where there are just pickup games going on on playgrounds everywhere. Every so often there may be a game of flag football going on at some park somewhere, but they are few and far between. If a university has a field where a flag football game is going on, chances are it's an intramural contest and is not open to non-students. Real football (contact) usually requires considerable conditioning over weeks so it's not like you can just find a game and join in. Although there are semi-pro and amatuer leagues you can join, it's not something you can do on holiday - it requires a season-long commitment, not to mention, you actually have to make the team. Try Madden 2008 on X-Box.
