We're a busy family, we try not to eat out more than once a week. My son loves my cooking anyways. He usually gets a dessert like a bowl of ice cream or we will bake cookies after dinner. That way if we have a meal he's not too found of like grilled chicken and veggies, he will at least have dessert to look forward to. Overall he's a very healthy fit looking kid. He plays sports year around. I used to live in the high dessert area but now I live in Orange County. I find that the "food Nazi's" aren't very popular off line. For example, most team moms brought real treats for the kids. Chips, Rice Crispy, cup cakes, kool-aid or Caprison pouches etc. While when a mom brought something like salary sticks she was usually looked at like "ummm ok" by both kids and parents. The key is just moderation and activity. No need to be so punitive and paranoid. It's become like a contest on here "oh we only drink skim milk and non-processed products." I hardly know anyone like that in real life. Honestly besides for certain snack items I buy my son has open range on the kitchen. he's 9 years old he knows when he's hungry and what he wants. It hasn't become a problem. He's always hungry at dinner and like I said he's a very healthy and fit boy. As for why your brother is so muscular it could be genetics or the type of activity he's getting. Just look at Phelps then look at Terel Owens. Both have bodies based on their activities. Terel may look more toned and ripped but it doesn't mean Phelps is any less healthy.

Doughnuts are fried pastries usually in the form of a ring. They can be made of a yeast dough or a cake-like batter. Some do not have a hole, and are usually filled with some fruit-flavored jam, jelly, or marmalade, or a flavored cream similar to cake frosting or pudding. Some shops and some people spell them "donut". both are acceptable spellings.

Cookies are small sweets often called biscuits in the UK and Canada. They can by crispy or chewy, and come in a variety of flavors.

What we Americans call biscuits are similar to your scones, but without the sweetness like sugar, apples, or raisins, although some people do add those things to them. Biscuits are usually made of a dough or batter consisting of flour, baking powder, baking soda, buttermilk or regular milk, and either oleo margarine, butter, lard, or vegetable shortening. They are usually served at breakfast, although some people enjoy them for supper as well. People will put plain butter on them, or else add a fruit spread, honey, syrup, or gravy.

English muffins are a type of bread that are usually toasted and spread with a fruit spread. They are round and rather flat normally. They are usually served for breakfast. I think you call them crumpets over there.

Donut- a sweet dough that is deep fried and can be eaten plain or with a variety of toppings. We call a car tire a tire.
A cookie, we love homemade and bakery made ones too.
An English muffin isn't meant to be rude, it is a great quick breakfast.
Brownies are great, many varieties of them too.
As an American of English descent I find kidney pie disgusting, some of England's other foods are just as strange to us as well.
We call a car trunk a trunk and not a boot. Boots are for wearing.
We just have different names for things.

Because we took the great foods in a lot of different cultures and made them our own. And we can call them whatever we want.
You'll notice that even though are country was founded by the British, we don't eat a lot of British food. Because most of it is downright disgusting. In Britain, they eat spotted dick. Here it would be considered a medical problem.

I don't know, no more strange than spotted dick, bangers and mash, toad in the hole, bacon butties? What you're used to I guess.
North Americans like the term cookie because a biscuit is something you feed your dog.
If you come to Canada you can get even more confused with Nanaimos, Poutine, Tourtieres, Buttertarts and yes DO-NUTS

Doughnut can also be spelled Donut. No big deal. Have you tried adult brownies? You are funny.
