Believe it or not, 8 months is not that uncommon (or extremely) long to be trying to have a baby and not yet be successful. Although, I do understand your concern.

There could be a variety of reasons that it hasn't happened yet from something as simple as timing to a more serious reason such as you or your partner having a fertility issue(s).

Some couples concentrate so much on "the right" days to have intercourse, that it ends up hindering their baby making plans, because there is room for human error when tracking your ovulation.

There are ways to track your ovulation using BBT Charting (basal body temperature) and OPKs. (Ovulation predictor kits) OPK's can be purchased at any pharmacy/store such as Wal-Mart, Walgreens, CVS, etc and are usually under 15 dollars for 7 test sticks. A BBT thermometer can be purchased at the same types of places for about 7-9 dollars.
You can find a WEALTH of information about OPKs and BBT Charting at the following website:

www.fertilityfriend.com

Supposedly, the rule of thumb about "when to worry" is approximately 1 year. So you've still got about 4 months until then. I would use that time until then doing BBT charting. In the event that you ever do need to visit a fertility specialist or someone else about this, you will already have 3-4 charts by then, which will help the doctor see what's going on.

Timing is everything. There's basically a very small fertility window each month, and most pregnancies are the result of intercourse happening 1-2 days before ovulation. If you don't know exactly when you're ovulating, it's very possible that you're concentrating on the wrong days. It's incorrect to assume that you ovulate on the 14th day, because ovulation occurs on a different day of the cycle for each woman. The 14th day is just an average for all women.

Good luck to you and try not to worry to much. Worrying only adds stress, which is definitely not good when you're trying to get pregnant, and it also makes the intercourse less fun. =)

Timing is everything. If you believe that a woman ovulates 14 days afte rthe start of her period then you may have a timing issue. That is only an AVERAGE day to ovulate which means that many woman ovulate at other times during the cycle.
Woman have been told many myths and half truths about their cycles. Conception does not take place right during intercourse and sperm can live inside the woman for up to 5 days.......Go get a book called "taking chaarge of your fertility" By Toni Weschler. It will help you truly understand your cycle and body and be able to target your peak days no matter when they occur.
Trust me ! it will help. We tried for a year and after reading it I found out my timing was wrong. I now have a 7 month old baby girl and another due in March..........good luck

There is no normal......

If you are over 35 and have no conceived in 6 months, you should see a fertilty specialist.

If you are under 35 and it has been a year, you should.

That doesn't mean anything is wrong, but you should check...both of you.

Monitor your ovulation and go for it those times.

My son was a first try, my daughter took 2 years!

WELL THERE ARE A FEW THINGS. FIRST OF ALL I KNOW SOMEONE THAT IS IN THE SAME SITUATION AND SHE WENT TO THE DOCTOR TRYING TO SEE WHEN SHE COULD GET PROFESSIONAL HELP AND SHE SAID THAT SHE SHOULD WAIT FOR ATLEAST A YEAR BEFORE GETTING WORRIED. SOMETHING YOU COULD DO IS TO TRACK YOUR OVULATION. YOU CAN BUY A KIT AT ANY WALMART, CVS, ETC. THEN ANOTHER TIP IS TO NOT GO TO THE BATHROOM AFTERWORDS, SOMETHING ABOUT THE AMONIA FROM URIN. TRY TO LAY FLAT TOO, AND THE BEST WAY TO GET PREGNANT IS TO DO THE POSITIONS THAT GIVE THE DEEPEST PENITRATION. GOOD LUCK ON GETTING PREGGO!

85% of healthy couples concieve within 1 year of trying. It takes anywhere from 6 months to 2 years to concieve. If after 2 years you haven't had a baby then go to the doctor and get checked out and get your husband checked out to see what the problem is.

The suggestions made here are right... You should see a doctor and have him take a look at the both of you, run tests and do his thing. Stress, alcohol intake, smoking, obesity are some of the factors that may hinder fertilization. Low sperm count may also be a problem. Seek medical advice, its best.

It can take up to 2 years-but it might be worth you both going to the docs so you can both get checked out-it could be something really small that can be sorted easily.
