you hit the nail on the head. Is your starter if you hear a clicking noise and you keep trying until it engages, is for sure your starter. Fairly easy to do on your blazer you will get at it from below, the starter's price is more of a concern though you can easily find a re manufactured one for about $140 dealer might be in the upper $250 or more.

Your starter is too new to need complete replacement. Replace the starter solenoid and Bendix (starter) drive at the same time. Both parts can be purchased form your Chevrolet dealer and generally speaking are of higher quality than auto parts store replacements. When the starter is split open check the condition of the commutator brushes. If they are worn polish the commutator with 400 wet and dry silicon carbide paper clean with brake clean install new brushes and you're good to go. To do a total overhaul a starter end plate is a good deal also as it contains a new bearing. Stick in a new bearing sleeve in the starter drive frame housing at the same time.

hi there, the problem you are having is the "ground" connection at the starter motor itself is corroded, chances are you didn't need to replace the battery, but if you were using the stock ac delco one an upgrade is better any how. but absolutly the ground at the starter. i had a buick regal that did that. i ended up removing the starter motor and replacing with new and the problem still persisted. i needed to get new cables to the battery, but altimatly it was the ground. this would only happen after driving the car, it was fine in the mornings or if the car sat for any amount of time.
hope i could help.

Sure sounds like its the starter clicking, trying to engage. The starter itself must be going bad, try having it replaced, but before doing that, make sure that the battery connections are tight.

Do you have headers on it? Because it sounds like the starter is getting HOT. If this is the problem wrap the headers or exhaust pipe plus wrap the starter with thermal tape that you can get from hot rod shop. This should take care of problem. If not, put a Ford solenoid in the system.

You have a starter that is about to crap out. You might be able to overhaul it without too much trouble, but it's probably a lot cheaper and easier to buy a reman. starter and just replace it. Good luck.

If it is your starter, and it won't start at all. on a 93 you can tap the starter with a hammer and it'll sometimes start it up.
(Just in case you get stranded)
