Depends on that e-mail being used....
If it is an "online" email like Yahoo, then they can not get into your e-mail by connecting to you through a network. However, if they can figure out your password, they can get into the e-mail even you are not connected.
If you just a program like Outlook which allows you to move e-mail from the Internet down to your hard drive, then a person who is connected to your computer might be able to access the file that has the local e-mail in it. But you would have to give them permission to the folder on your hard drive that has the file by sharing it.
So just connecting two computers through a network would not automatically give them access to your e-mail.

Are you using a Pop server account with say? Outlook? Outlook is capable of password protection, you just have to set it up once you enter your pop server information for that account.
If you are using Internet based emails-always remember to log off and store your password where YOU know where it is. Passwords should be things that incorp. words and numbers for a "strong" password that can not be found out easily.
Never use options by sites such as Yahoo, AOL, Excite ect., to "Store password and log on information" it's a great way to be hacked.
Hacking occurs when you don't have a method of firewall or protection. Be sure to incorp. all these factors into internet usage with a multiple shared computer.

If the other user is having medium knowledge about scanning passwords he could steal you mail account. But if you use antispyware software or a good active firewall. You should be safe
