You can use the gender neutral term paramour. Works for any secret lover.

Dictionary.com gives us part of the answer:

"The word mistress, now mainly used to refer to a woman who is involved in an extramarital sexual relationship, originally served simply as a neutral counterpart to mister or master."

We would be using mister or master in that way if it was common... Today, we call a man "a kept man" if he's just an object of a powerful woman. Pool boys and gardeners are sometimes made into objects by bored housewives, and their titles sometimes connotate licentious behavior.

Gigolo's are usually paid, and would be the male equivalent of a prostitute, but not a mistress.

What an interesting question..
I have never thought about this before so. I will have a go at answering, poorly probably but here goes:
In my really limited experience I have never happened across this in The UK.
I have seen older women with younger men but then we all have.
Never come across a man who has been set up in his own home, paid for by a woman.
Must be a first.
There you go.
Will watch and see if anyone from here can come up with a name because I have never happened across this.
Good question.

I'm not sure how you mean. In terms of extramarital affairs or affairs outside a monogamous dating relationship, I don't think there's a single word; the term "the other man" usually covers it pretty well, though. In terms of BDSM, "Master" is the term.

Good question. I don't know of a name for it, but I've seen a lot of "kept" men, especially since a lot of women who are older now have some money & want a younger man.
