What a great year for them, eh?

As as die hard Cubs fan this has been a good year so far. It would be even better if Zambrano would remove his head from you know where and be the ace of the staff he is supposed to be. I will give team a truck load of credit for not folding when Soriano went down. Sports reporters laughed at the Cubs for signing Lilly and Marquis, but the Cubs are laughing right now. Lilly and Marquis have been better than expected. Rich Hill has had his moments but he's still young so I think he'll only get better. Where would the team be without Mark DeRosa? He has played practically every position except pitcher and catcher.

Are you serious? They are one of the most expensive teams in baseball, yet can hardly stay above .500 and are failing to run away with the worst division in baseball. This is an embarrassing year for the Scrubs, and Cubs fans better not accept this as a good year, or the bar of expectation is going to get lower than ever.

Also don't forget, they locked down oldies like Soriano and Floyd to long term deals (throw Zambrano in there too), which means they overspent for a below average year and are now locked in for a long time with some guys who are going to be past their time very soon. Face it, the Cubs screwed up big time, and unless they win the World Series this year, Cubs fans will look back on this season with feverish regret.

They could have folded when Soriano went down but they continued to play well and kept themselves in the chase. I would have to agree with you, this is a great year for the Cubs and their fans.

Great year? If you consider a team that is about 3 games over .500 having a great year, they're having a spectacular year.
An exciting year is more accurate.

It's not GR8 yet. Let's see in a month.
Why do you say a GR8 year as of now? They were favored by many to win it all this year.
