you are in great shape, the important thing is never to stop exercising. Try pregnancy yoga, my best friend walked through out her pregnancy and she has remain in great shape. Wish I could that, but my metabolism slowed down quite a bit. I used to be in great shape before having my children (swimming, tennis, surfing, running) but I stopped working out when time and work didn't allow it. However, I am starting again, it's been hard keeping my "love handles" off!.
Good luck!

I am going to a prenatal nutritionist and a prenatal trainer, she says (with authority) the best thing you can do when you get pregnant is to work out. My OBGYN (22 years in practice) says the SAME THING... Now, if you were not a runner or heavy into lifting pre-pregnancy then starting all of this when you find out you are pregnant is NOT a good time (too much stress on body), BUT if you were already doing this PRE pregno (and on a consistent basis) then by all means CONTINUE to do it as it will enable you to avoid gestational diabetes, keep your excess weight down (and gain only the needed weight for a healthy pregno), lose weight easily after giving birth (this is key), have an easier labor and deliver, etc (the positives are so long). Now, if one has not been excercising regular pre pregnancy (like myself) then the recommendation is to do something but keep it to something like 45 min of walking each day (or at least 4 days a week), and a LIGHT strength training (like 8 to 10 Lbs of 3 reps each of arms/legs for about 20 or 30 min). Now with you, I would LISTEN to your body... you might want to run 1 mile and then see how you feel... if you feel good then push to the second mile and so forth... but the first poster's recommendation to CHECK WITH YOUR doctor on everything you do is a must b/c he/she will medically advice you based on your situation. Sorry for the rampage, but I'm struggling with my little measley 45 min walk 3 to 4 times a week and a little light weigt lifting (as I am inherently lazy).. I just don't want to be a barn during my pregno (i'm 13 weeks today)... good luck, and I'm impressed with your physical condition... you are going to have a great pregnancy, labor, and delivery (and you will teach you child great fitness habits from day one). YOU GO GIRL! (sorry so long).

Running during pregnancy is great for you and your baby. It will also help you during the delevery. The only thing that I could see that would possible cause any concern would be the weight lifting. I would talk to your OB about how much you worked out previously and see what they recomend for you lifting. I didn't work out before hand and at about 20 wks they suggested around 35lbs, at about 25-6wks they brought that down to 25lbs. My dr said that I would feel it more and also it could strain the baby. Keep up your schedule, just slowly bring it down throughout the pregnancy. Good Luck and Congrats!

Its good to keep fit throughout your pregnancy. Congratulations for taking good care of yourself. Pregnancy is not a disease but a temporary condition. You must reduce the intensity of your workouts so that you don’t strain yourself. But keep fit until the end if you can.
NB: the advise for you to consult with your doctor is the best.

You can do anything you normally do. You're pregnant, not sick. I skied until the slopes closed, 7 mos, won a raquet ball tournament 8 months, and a golf tournament, 1 week before delivery, continued to lift weights until delivery.
congrats, good luck

Since every individual woman is different, you really need to get your Doctor's opinion.
