The USA is morally bankrupted and no longer fit to deal with world affairs. It is time for the European Union to take the lead.

GAWD yes ! ! (I'm an American.) But this country is rather like an unruly pre-teen - being less than 300 years old, all told. USA grew soooooooo fast, and became a world power so quickly, it sorta' goes with the program that 'we' might shoot ourselves in the foot during such an awesome growth spurt.

I'm just hoping USA does'nt go so far as to shoot itself in the head.

As an American, I don't like this "policing the world" 'tude. I wish we could just be like Switzerland. Neutral, but able to kick @ss if attacked. Mind our own beeswax.

I do appreciate living here though. Free society, and luxurious, compared to some places. I don't take this for granted. *Bless* Sj

How do you define "morally bankrupted"? That is a matter of opinion and morals are not of a whole lot of consequence- money talks and power talks. And the US certainly has its fingers in a lot of pies. You may not agree with it but you cannot deny that the world bends down to kiss US ***- and why won't they? Let's talk about the foreign aid, the import trade, the threat of retaliation if anyone messes with them at all, how everything that goes on in the world is influenced somehow or the other by the USA.
American culture is exported all over the world, the US is also essentially an open society- it is very easy to migrate and since it is the land of opportunity, almost anybody can make it here. Europe is essentially a closed society. The EU is ruled by stringent regulations. The EU is a long way from becoming the next United States of America.
And as for Bush, we are getting ready to get rid of him next year anyway...

Morally bankrupt? Based on what set of morals? On the other hand, the USA did not want to be involved in world affairs, it was pulled into to them and forced to take a part. If the E.U wants to take a leading role, all it has to do is to lead.

Yes, the Bush presidicency has become the final straw. But who should take over? Not the EU, I don't think. I think everyone should just leave every othet country alone to do itys thing and empower the World Court to enforce a few common principles like right to not be imporisoned without a charges being laid (one of the reasons the US has lost credibility - Gitmo).

No it's not...EU can't just take over the USA...they'd lose magnificentlly =) How do you determine moral bankruptcy? This is just an opinion question....not really based on any facts whatsoever.
