Yes, this is about granting people one of the most basic human rights. It does not harm anyone if a same-sex couple get married, but denying them that right is a form of discrimination that is harmful to society.
Add in your debate that is has been proven to NOT be a "choice" by the APA and many other professional mainstream organisations that specialise in psychology and human biology.
http://www.apa.org/topics/orientation.html#whatis
The BBC has also made a very good debate about this topic:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/ethics/samesexmarriage/index.shtml
You'll notice how those who oppose same-sex marriage have had their views struck down by facts and evidence that contradict them.
This website has 12 reasons as to why homosexual marriage should not be allowed which are used by opponents.
http://grove.ufl.edu/~ggsa/gaymarriage.html
You'll notice these are sarcastic and just go to show that their argument against gay marriage is very weak.
The only argument opponents have to gay marriage is the Bible. However, the Bible has been be closley studied by experts who have determined that this is probably because they have misinterpreted the Bible or due to translation errors. This is explained here:
http://www.soulforce.org/pdf/whatthebiblesays.pdf
However, whether religion agrees or disagrees with homosexuality, it should have obsolutley no voice when it comes to choosing someone's human rights. I may remind you that the Bible also claims slavery to be "morally" correct and that and many others shown in this short clip:

Also, this is a short clip from a speech that would be very useful for you to use in your debate:

You will find that your opposition will use the "oh think of the children argument" and yet have nothing to back up their argument. You can use this to take them down:

That website also has several links with more information.
One huge lie is saying that all homosexuals are pedophiles, when in fact homosexuals account for less than 1% of child a abuse and a study of that in Colorado discovered this

If they say "animals don't do this!!" remind them that about 1500 species have been discovered to engage in not only homosexual sex, but same-sex relationships:

I would make the point that governmentst should not legislate morality. The job of the government is to protect the rights of all of it's citizens not just the majority. Granted, there is an intersection between morality and civil laws like murder and theft, but the government should not legislate how you dress, who you marry or how many or often, your sexual practices or any other "moral issue" that does not affect the rest of society.

If it's not an issue or problem in a country, then what's the point of debating and arguing? Don't waste your time. Stop making trouble or a mess. Move somewhere else or focus on the important issues in that place.

no. Some of you may say, "Screw that morality," but do you realized how morality made our country?
