Is it okay to legalize same sex marriage here in the Philippines?

I am going to join a debate and I am in the affirmative side w/c means i should defend to agree to same sex marriage. Please help me.

Yes, this is about granting people one of the most basic human rights. It does not harm anyone if a same-sex couple get married, but denying them that right is a form of discrimination that is harmful to society.

Add in your debate that is has been proven to NOT be a "choice" by the APA and many other professional mainstream organisations that specialise in psychology and human biology.

You'll notice how those who oppose same-sex marriage have had their views struck down by facts and evidence that contradict them.

The only argument opponents have to gay marriage is the Bible. However, the Bible has been be closley studied by experts who have determined that this is probably because they have misinterpreted the Bible or due to translation errors. This is explained here:

However, whether religion agrees or disagrees with homosexuality, it should have obsolutley no voice when it comes to choosing someone's human rights. I may remind you that the Bible also claims slavery to be "morally" correct and that and many others shown in this short clip:

I would make the point that governmentst should not legislate morality. The job of the government is to protect the rights of all of it's citizens not just the majority. Granted, there is an intersection between morality and civil laws like murder and theft, but the government should not legislate how you dress, who you marry or how many or often, your sexual practices or any other "moral issue" that does not affect the rest of society.
