I have to look for a pure substance in my home and right it down for science but I'm not sure there are any? What are examples I might look for besides water?

How pure is pure. Is 99% pure enough? Then Al, Ti (in car wheels and parts), Cu (in wire), and 24K Gold are about all you will find that are that pure in your home.

Tin foil - is actually aluminum foil.

Let's start with this statement:

"Pure substances are made up of only one component. A pure substance may be further classified as either an element or a compound. "

Elements found in your home then can include: Carbon if you have water filters, copper if you have electricity, gold if you wear jewelry, and carbon again if you wear diamonds.

A pure chemical compound is a particular set of molecules or ions. Two or more elements combined into one substance, by a chemical reaction, form a chemical compound.

Compounds can include water, salt, baking soda, and sugar.

Water is not a pure substance either.. it has Cl ions and other ions as well. I could think of Baking Soda but I'm not sure it's completly pure.. salt (NaCl) isn't pure unless it's not iodized.
