If two people truly love and respect each other, I don't see what difference it makes if their gay. If that is what they want then they should have the rite to marry *♥*

i am for it because i am a lesbian. my partner and i have been together for almost 2 years and are raising a 5mo old daughter together. we had a 'commitment ceremony' or 'holy union' as they call them at our local church last month. we are married in our hearts whether or not the state wants to recognize it. my problem isn't that marriage rights would make us more or less committed, it's that denying us that right keeps me from being legally able to adopt our daughter that a sperm bank helped us get. if anything happened to my partner (who was the birth mother) i would have a VERY difficult time getting any kind of custody. taxes are confusing to do also, since we co-own our home, car, and everything else yet aren't legally bound in any other way. she works and i am a stay at home mom. we function just like any other couple. if the reason is religious beliefs, that people aren't for it, then we should change in the consititution 'seperation of church and state' because that is very misleading. we shouldnt have to go move to massachussetts to be recognized. our families are supportive, our community is supportive, and believe it or not, our church is supportive (presbyterian). i continue to hold out hope that in the future things will change, but i will not count on it. all we can do is vote on matters such as this. i am happy who i am, certificate in hand or not. being gay makes me a minority, i know that - but what would any other minority think if they weren't allowed to marry? if they said 'people in wheelchairs can't marry, african americans can't marry, or dwarfs can't marry?' if you ask me it has nothing to do with sexual preference, rather control over people who are different.

I say let them get married. Some of their relationships are stronger than traditional m/f marriages. Plus, how many of them end in ugly separations due to cheating and infidelity? Not many. The only people that are threatened by gay marriage are the bible toating religous freaks that wear blinders through life. They are unhappy on the inside, so they want everyone else to be just as miserable.

I'm not for it or against it.
What I am for is peoples right to choose to enter any kind of love union they wish.
I don't see the point in legislating peoples private lives.
The governement should never have the power to be the sole judge of what a marriage union is & make laws based on those beliefs.
The issue stems from the conservative right wing/religious' constant battle to strike down everyone & everything that isn't like them. It makes no difference to them if you agree or not - they're prepared to discard your rights to make the world more tolerable for themselves.

As we all know, you have no control over whom you fall in love with.
Although I'm a Christian and they are against it, I also feel you shouldn't judge others. I also believe that God put those feelings in you for a reason. Therefore, whatever 2 consenting adults do in private, is thier business, as long as it isn't hurting anyone.
I have nothing against it.

Ok I used to think being gay is ok as long as they don't get married or have kids. Cuz it just seemed wrong.
Now I have totally changed my mind. I know a lesbian couple who take care of two kids and are better parents than some straight couples I know. Just mind your business and let people live their lives I think.

Exactly. I totally agree on your opinion. It is the year 2007, for god's sake, let people get married or live together, if they are in love - the gender really doesn't matter!

I have nothing against gay marriages. It is a big controversial subject, and a lot of people will disagree with us.
