Probably depends what country you live in for starters.

Also depends on what you mean - is it a paint job you paid a company to do on your car ? - in which case you can probably sue them, but better to see if they will rectify it first.

or are you talking about the quality of the factory paint job on a car you bought new - in which case depends how long you have owned it - you should have pointed out the bad quality when you picked it up - if you waited too long then you probably have a weaker case (I am thinking about UK law here, probably different especially if you are in US) but again, better to go back to the dealer and see what they can do - after all they "hopefully" want to keep their customers happy so you will buy from them again, or recommend friends.

If you mean a paint job you did yourself or a friend did for you, then tough s**t -ha ha ha (sorry)

I paid $2500.00 for a paint job, the color was wrong the paint turned out to be metallic and I have a 1977 Mercedes. We all know Mercedes does not use metallic paint. The job was terrible there were places the paint was to thin, paint rough, and over spray was everywhere. I tried for 6 months to get this taken care of finally had to file suit in small claims court. So if you paid a decent price go to small claims court. Beside the paint job I paid additional money to have the trim removed an put back on yet I have trim painted. I finally have a court date we will let the judge decide. So yes go to small claims court if you have to.

Really good repaint costs $3,000 and up. Did you get the $299.00 special? Just don't recommend that paint shop and get over it! Ask if they will put the paint job right and for how much. Steel wool rubber gloves and lacquer thinner and couple of days you should have all that respray off then start again but don't wait after a couple weeks the paint hardens. Trust me I painted a lady's car and she said she did not want Wimbledon white because it looked baby blue. So she got GM bright white on her ford. Her husban was really mad! Because with a color change I had to repaint the door jambs too for an additional charge.

Any reputable auto body shop should fix a "bad" paint job without having to pursue legal action...But if they recommended or advised you that you needed addition work to enhance the quality of the paint...and you refused it...You own it....also..if you went to a discount paint store and paid $399 for a complete auto paint....again...you own it.
we really need more particulars on this situation before making a total judgment call.
