I think they think the fancy knickers are for them only... but they make us feel good in ourselves, and we want to look our best even down to our undies.

Your so-called boy friend sounds like a complete nerd and control freak complaining about your knickers.
He should appreciate them and be paying you compliments instead of complaining!

What does he want you to wear instead?
Norah Batty style bloomers?

He should be glad that you make the most of yourself by wearing "fancy ones".

Did you ask for his opinion?
He has no right to dictate what to wear even if you asked him.

Why on earth do you go out with him and put up with that?

It is a natural instinct for men to feel over protective about their partners, because they feel that they own you in their minds, and are frightened that they may lose you to some one else, it is a case of insecurity, not all men feel this way but a big majority of them do. This could be related to past experiences, ie, trust. they ask themselves can they trust you not to cheat on them, some go through their whole lives asking questions about this and then only to find out, that if they don't take the risk of gaining trust in their partners they will eventually end up losing them because of lack of trust because eventually their partners get fed up with not being trusted enough, so eventually you would end up parting, and then again the man/men repeats the whole process again with someone else when they find another female. Men are more suspicious than women, but women also think along the same lines when their partner has a wonderful looking body and they go out without a shirt on and other women see him and go like hmmmmm he's nice. Try this for yourself if your partner is one of these hunks, let him walk in front of you about 2/3 yards apart and listen to what you hear other people say about him as he is walking along, you may even hear a few wolf whistles. But please remember this would be an experiment, as he would think that he has still got that macho feeling, don't dwell on it in an arguement afterwards as i said before, this is a two way feeling, as you would start to feel insecure. It is by doing this little test that you will find out the exact answer to your own question.

I prefer it when girls wear NO knickers! But they are fascinating as to why girls prefer specific knickers. And they are sexy for obvious reasons. Arent girls fascinated with men's knickers? You always read about this in woman's magazines about how they prefer boxer shorts to Y-fronts!

I think there's a play off between fantasy and reality:

It's odd that men and women talk about each others undies as if it's part of a Crufts show, bark bark...a strange private party made public...pedigree, the panties you want to reproduce in!

The reality of the matter is Skids smell!

My present boyf. likes me in plain white Marks and Sparks briefs (and I do too...) but if I was going out for the night to something fancy and wanted to feel special then the lacy sexy ones get an outing.

everyone is fascinated by packaging. If the contents are as good as the packaging most men are pleased.

he's just sad cos he wants to see you in them. men aren't really fascinated with our knickers - just what's underneath. so he's bound to be upset if you wrap his favorite thing up all pretty and then take it out without him. lol

tell him it stops you getting vpl or something. or that it's only going to be him that sees them when you get home and naked. :)

its because there the last line of defense to him.

fancy knicks are for pulling or bedroom time

and granny pants for everyday use.

well thats a typical blokes view anyway.
