They need to wake up and realize that the whole dang universe does NOT spin around them. Own up. The wolvereenies just plain flat out are horrible this year. Acceptance is the first step towards recovery.

Actually it takes a while to get through all the stages of grief that those poor wolvereenies are going through. It is not as easy to get over it as you think

May I refer to the "stages" they will have to go through before they are finally able to "let go of it" and move on.

• Shock is the first stage - numbness, disbelief and unreality.

• Denial is thoughts or words such as, "I don't believe it -- It can't be!"

• Guilt "If only they had ..." done something like take the first game seriously

• Anger is a very difficult phase, but necessary in order to face reality and get beyond the loss.

• Depression

• Resignation means you finally believe the reality

• Acceptance comes when you finally understand that you will not be national champions this year

then the recovery!

It may seem like a devastating loss for Michigan, which is not helped by all of the media coverage the game is getting. I don't believe that's fair to Appalachian State. This is not just any I-AA team-this is the BEST I-AA team. They prepared, and they defeated a good Michigan team. Michigan VASTLY underestimated Appy State, and paid the price for it. Appy State is better than at least 40% of I-A, but Michigan still blew it. Should we write off the Wolverines for the season? I wouldn't. As a Badger fan, I'm glad Michigan comes to Madison this year-we can use the home fields advantage. Watch in the weeks ahead for more "Upsets of the Century"........

They are not horrible. Appalachian State happens to be a very good team which could probably beat many D -1 schools. Michigan will be there when the season winds down in November. And, no, I am not a fan of the Wolverines...

There is a vast difference between being a horrible team (like Notre Dame will be this year), and a team that gets cocky, and comes out unprepeared.

Appalachian is a good program, and one that could legitemately play against half of division 1A (you know all the power school....Miss St, Illinois, etc), and as shown, have the firepower to shock a bigger team if not taken seriously.

Are the Wolverines horrible? Henne to Manningham looked pretty good. The half Hart played, he dominated. So, it might be premature to judge. Are they Champion Material? Well, not anymore.

How do you rate agood team? Do they have to go undefeated? If that is the requirement, It would appear that the only good team that returned is Boise.

Well as for me, I just plain hate Michigan. If my team would have lost to Appalachian State I might be a little upset too. But they didn't, SO HA! Eat that Michigan.

It's tough knowing that your season is over after week 1. It takes a lot of air out of you early on and you really can't look forward to the games ahead.

Because there were so many high expectations of them. They failed to live up to their potential and disappointed a lot of people by losing that early.
