Those aren't Liberals anymore than Busheviks are Conservatives. Pseudolibs grew out of the Vietnam "Anti-war" movement that the Soviets and Chicoms sponsored in order to drown out more reasonable protests and keep the war going. I had the same problem with them. If the US is Imperialistic--how come it' the Soviets who have the Empire? They are also the people responsible for Political Correctness, carrying out the Commies' long range goal of destroying the American Left and deepening Social Divisions in the US.
But you knew that, Locutus. You're just being disingenuous--yet again.

Colonies - almost every major city on the planet - anywhere that sells coke, has a macdonald's or uses microsoft, where American products and companies are given preference to any local ones, or are simply bought out.
Conquered lands - the obvious Iraq, but also any country where the CIA has sponsered a coup against the legitimate democratically led government; so that'd be just about every country in south and central America, and many middle eastern and south east Asian nations as well.
Of course the US is not imperialistic in the conventional sense - but that doesn't mean that they don't use power and money to achieve exactly the same things that the imperial powers of the 19th and 20th century did.

Limbaugh calls liberals self loathing, so, I salute you for originality!
America, in the 19th century was expansive as a nation, as most know. We pushed Indians off their lands for about 125 years, then, settled their territory. Texas was gained through a war with Mexico. Eventually the Spanish left the west, and, CA and other territories became ours, too. In fact, there is not really even an acre of American land that was not taken from Indians and so on. It is our history.

You are silly little boy to believe that modern empires are dictated by land.
The US has military bases in virtually every country and it dictates the markets, trade agreements, etc to the rest if the world. Empire is not about land but rather about money and the way the US has stripped Sóuth America of its resources was a prime example of Imperialism. The US didn't need the South American land but it wanted the resources (sugar, coffee, banana (the reason Guatemala giovt was overthrown), and of course oil and silver and gold). The US helped overthrow every government in South America and supported the dictators that replaced them in return for business rights, cheap labour and control. The US didn't need to occupy these countries as they simply put in a native to do the job for them.
This is how Empires are now built. You don't need to occupy countries with your armies for political influence but rather occupy them with your business.
Go back and learn something about modern empires.

The age of classic imperialism is dead. No longer do nations annex huge swaths of land into their mighty empires. The use of vassal states, though unofficial one at that, is quite popular though... So, let's see you wanted cheap oil for your corporate friends and could get it by invading... oh... I don't know... Iraq? You set up a government friendly to you and take what you want. Simple, no?

To any objective observer, there is at least an element of imperialism in our attempt to conquer and control Iraq.
"Imperialism is the forceful extension of a nation's authority by territorial gain or by the establishment of economic and/or political dominance over other nations." --Wikipedia
Consider the role of Paul Bremer. Control of the US Provisional Authority made him a Viceroy. Consider the early offer by other nations to help reconstruct Iraq. Bush said, sorry, it's all ours. Consider the current dispute over the oil revenue sharing. It's not just about how much do the Sunnis get, it's also about how much of the profits do the US and multinational oil companies get to keep.

Where's the cheap oil?
McDonalds and Pizza Hut? The ignorance on this board is sad. So American businessmen are the real people the libs hate I guess. Sheesh. Unbelievable.
Oh, yes, great idea. Let's pull our "outpost" (unofficial occupation) out of South Korea and watch the fireworks between the North and South. Brilliant.
