Firstly you need to make sure that your current qualifications are suitable for Australia. Depending on where your from they may not be and you might need to do a course to get up to Australian standards.

Also, what type of nursing are you suited too? what are you interested in? you should work out what field you want to work in before coming here.

Where in Australia would you prefer to live? Nurses are in huge demand all over Australia. Where ever you choose to live, you will get a job nursing. You are pretty much free to decide on where you choose to live.

I have put in some handy websites below. Check them out, see how you go.
Good Luck.

it probably depends on where you are from.

if you are from somewhere like the UK or New Zealand then it will be pretty easy, pasports are pretty transferable, and i think your qualifications may even be recognised without question.

medical personell from some countries have to re-sit all their exams, and that can be very expensive and time consuming (my honours supervisor had a columbian medical degree and spend thousands of dollars doing re-sits of all his medical exams to work as a doctor in australia)

try seek.com (follow links to australian section), they may be able to answer some general aussie employment questions.
