I know that several automaotive companies are working on hydren fuel vehicles. Which companies have been successful and how close are they to actually being able to market said vehicles?

Hydrogen fuel cell driven cars are on the road today, like the Honda HCX(sorry if the letters are wrong) which are out in Japan. They have these on small islands in Japan where clean cars are all they use. these cars have their own fueling stations in these places. also, they emit water after combustion. so far, Honda is the only car manufacturer i've seen that has made a successful hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.

Hydrogen Fuel cell project is really a great success
But the cost of implementing still remains high

As a result the practicality of the vehicle is less

Researches are going on in this field. Future of Fuel Cell is bright , but have to wait for that distant future to see them frequently on road
