What purpose does the "Skunk","Turtle", "Mole" among other peculiar animals serve?

they are all very well adapted to their particular ecological niche and are a functioning part of their ecological system.

Evolution is not a goal directed process, so it does not have a purpose.

Read some general ecology/evolution books.

Science ought not to delve into purpose. You would not believe how many people out there think that evolution has given us a purpose. But the scientific understanding excludes ascribing a purpose to natural processes.

Now a philosophic answer:
There could well be a purpose but that requires a Creator as you have indicated. But if we conclude that there could be a Creator, then undoubtedly He has put our great need for purpose into our human nature to get us to seek Him. Why seek for the purpose of skunks when we could seek our own purpose and at the same time seek to know our Creator?

As the other author said...there is no "purpose" to a particular species (including humans) but the closest you can get is "to leave viable offspring". That is what it is all about in the evolution, speciation, and extinction game. Those example vertebrates are all well adapted for their particular niche and serve their purpose well.
