a friend of mine at work said a few years ago the doctor gave her a pill which ended menstration.It wasnt a birth control pill.I am perimenopause.My periods are worse all the time.More frequent,more cramps.I am so sick of it.I started when I was 11 and now i am 49.Have u heard of such a pill.My friend couldnt remember the name.

There is a pill called Prometrium. It helps with all kinds of bleeding. There are also all kinds of Hormone replacements out there. I would suggest strongly that you consult your gyn. Stopping your period isn't always recommended. If you are having the symptoms, like hot flashes,night sweats, mood swings, irregular menses, then a trip to the gyno is in order.The cramping and bleeding are not signs of perimenopause. This is when your periods become irregular and inconsistent. You are not in menopause until you have gone without a period for at least a year.

No, no such pill that I'm aware of but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

You could use birth control pills continuously to stop your period.
