this APEC meeting in sydney (population approx 4 million) this weekend is going to cost around $500 million AUS and approx $150 million AUS in security why don't they just have a video conference which would cost like $1000 all up or just have it on an island and get the navy to patrol it and not have it in the most likley terrorist target in Australia both of these would be cheaper and be easier to monitor to prevent terrorist attack
and yes i know that it is more than one question/statement

I have been asking so many people, with technology now - why do the leaders need to meet? What's wrong with a video link-up, or a teleconference?

I think that instead of turning Sydney into a maximum security prison, it would have been easier to hold APEC in a prison. No-one can get in and no-one can get out.

The easiest and cheapest way to prevent a terrorist attack - DO NOT HAVE APEC IN AUSTRALIA!!

Investment is being infused to sponsor a APEC meeting because it exposes the country to many countries that will be interested in its businesses and development of natural resources. Return of investment is the main target for economic progress.

The APEC meeting is on an island. It is just a big one. Based on your estimate, it is not expensive at all for this kind of meeting.

Beats the hell out of me! Stuff like this should be on a "pay for your own" basis. Or better still, make all the bastards stay at the Salvation Army hostel and feed 'em vegemite sammiches!
