Contrary to the post above the earth is actually CLOSER to the sun in the winter. YES CLOSER. The poster should have paid CLOSER attention in the science class.
It is just that the earth is tilting AWAY from the sun during winter (in the Northern hemisphere) that it is "winter" or colder.

in football yes it seems to start vary early anymore the swason of the year yes it stay colder till late spring and stay warmer later in the fall Go Ohio State
