Is it because I've grown up or because today's horror movies just don't crack the chill factor? The last scary scary movie I saw was Candyman. And that was a decade and a half ago!

Horror films don't scare me any more either. It's a fascinating question. The last movie I found scary was the Geoff Goldbloom remake of the Fly. Scared the CRAP out of me when I saw it in the theater.

I think as we get older we become more jaded possibly.. I know there are things in the news and on the world stage that are much more frightening than any horror film (ie baghdad beheading videos).

It's because the studios are trying to cater to a 15/16 year old audience now. So they make horror movies that are scary, but not all that scary. It's also the reason horror movies don't have any nudity in them nowadays. Because the filmmakers want to attract younger audiences so the studios make more money.

the most horror films you were scared of where when you were young. Another reason is today they seem to think gore and blood is scary.

The 2 only movies i was a little afraid off the last years were "the others" and "1408". In both of them nobody gets killed.

And a trend these days is the japanese horror, it's not scary at all. Who the **** is scared of a little girl standing in a corner?

I think most horror films nowdays rely to much on special effects, where as classic horror films use to rely on atmosphere alongside sound effects, for example The Haunting, compare it to the remake and theres the answer.
I prefer watching Asian movies like The Eye and A Tale Of Two Sisters.

I am so into Horror movies.
I have hundreds on DVD and Video.
The older ones were and always will be scary.
The new ones are more for the effects.
They spend too much time on the effects then they
do with the scares. But I do have to admit there has been a few good new ones.

Real life is a scary enough horror. Think about how Bush got elected the first time and then even re-elected and what he has done for and to the world, isn't that enough for you?

Hey,
i think it is because many "scary" ideas have already been portrayed infilms, and it is hard to recreate something in being more scary than the original. Also this creates higher expectations. I don't know, just guessing
