Try coin collecting. It doesn't have to cost you a lot. You can go to the bank and pick of a box of coin (whichever denomination you like) for exactly face value. A box of pennies is $25, a box of nickels is $100, a box of dimes is $250 and boxes of half dollars or quarters are $500. The bank can pull out just $100 for you and you wouldn't have to buy all $500 if you didn't want to.

Once you get a box, you can go through and pull out the better coins (there are books to help with this or websites). You can pick up a coin book and try to fill all the holes or just search for interesting ones.

The coins that you don't want can be returned to the bank and put straight back into your account (though it's often better to return the coins to a different bank (not just a different branch but a different bank) so that you don't search the same boxes over and over). So you get most of your money back and you could then get another box.

Also check your change for interesting finds.

Some things to search for: wheat pennies, silver dimes, silver quarters, old coins, error coins, etc. There's always the chance that you could find a real treasure!

OR IF THAT'S NOT FOR YOU...

To find out what kind of hobby, try different ones.
Talk with friends who have a hobby, listen to them talking about their hobby and if you do not get bored, go with them to a meeting to do with that hobby.

If your school offers different sports, go and have a look or try.
Go to your local community center, see what classes they offer, and if any sounds interesting, ask if you can join one on a trial base of for short term at first.

You can walk into your local scouts hall, most groups can do with assistants if you are too old to become a member.

Some hobbies are very easy to get into, you can start with coin collecting by checking all coins you get, and try to get one for each year. (You will go very fast at first, as you are collecting a wide range of common things, but you will notice that some years do not show up.)
Stamps are almost that easy, if not as fast.

Whatever you choose, you can find a lot of info on internet.
My hobby is tying knots. I have 3 meter/yard of bookshelves filled with specialist books, but I know more info on internet, get in contact with others who have the same hobby and am able to ask questions about the most unlikely details getting an answer in the matter of days or even minutes, when the information can not be found with google.

try visit the site www.funsci.com they have a lot of scientific experiments to do at home and things u learn like making ur own microscope, telescope, how to extract dna from fruits, making urself an herbarium

or if u r the creative type, try use those pressed flowers and plants from the herbarium in making 2-dimensional decorative objects ( search for oshibana- the traditional japonese art)
or try origami, ikebana, even learn a martial art ( there r plenty to choose from) or learn a new language ( u may discover a new culture, u'll wanna visit that country and maybe u'd want to elarn to cook that specific cuisine)

About a trillion others have asked this question, do a search and see what answers they get.

I live in a very hobby filled household. We're in the SCA so always have hobbies on the go.
*At the moment I'm learning to knit, and am knitting up my second square for a blanket. It's going to be a sort of sampler, a chance to learn different techniques. Then I'll sew them all together. Next I have to learn to knit on the round, to make a competition piece for an upcoming SCA competition.
*I've just finished a piece of embroidery. I based it off a picture of a 15th century woodcut. I have to put it together, it's going to be a little dilly bag for the goblet my brother made me. I just bought some more aida cloth so I can start a cross stitch for my daughter for Christmas. That's going to be put onto a box to make a jewellery box for her.
*My hubby is making chainmail. Some armour, and a skirt for me. It's going to look so cool!
*He and I will be working on a story quilt for my brother's 21st, and a paper clay doll for my sister's Christmas present. It'll be dressed in a Norse costume like we wear for SCA. We've never done either of these things before, so that'll be interesting.
*I have to make some summer tunics for my daughter and I.
*And re-read a book on classical education to refresh my memory before Iend it to a friend.
*And when our daughter finally gets to bed at night, my hubby and I sit down for an hour of computer games (Civilization) because we're too damn tired to do anything more productive.
*Oh yeah, my daughter and I are growing heirloom veggies.
*And I collect recipes, currently focussing on cooking with lavender.
*Just bought a book about making books, so want to have a go at that!
*Had to fingerloop braid a drawstring for that dilly bag I mentioned before.
Lots of projects! My 5 month old really slows them down, but they get done eventually!
*Oh yeah, my hubby and I host a GURPS Kalamar game every Sunday, except once a month when we go to fighter training because we're learning rapier (more SCA stuff.)
*And I'm reading a book about Byzantine empresses (just for the hell of it) and working through the Mrs Pepperpot Omnibus with my daughter.

Moral to the story: There's no excuse for boredom!
Advice: Go to the library and pick a book of each shelf in the non-fiction section. Make a bargain with yourself that you will read all of them even if they seem boring. This will be very tedious, so your brain will try and find something enjoyable about it. With books on so many different topics, you'll have to find something interesting.
