It's quite appropriate. When both parties are competitive then it means that every one will get the right love she/he deserves from her/his partner.

Do you mean competitive against other couples or just with each other. If a couple competes to see who can satisfy the other more, I don't think there really is a loser.

I don't think competitive is important/appropriate at all.
Being at one with your partner, knowing their likes, dislikes, turn ons, turn offs is much more important.
After all what are you going to compete at .... who finishes first ..... that's not what it's all about at all

It depends on if both you and your spouse are okay with the competition or not, AND if it's not going to be too painful!

Unless you both get off on "competing", I don't see how that can be conducive to good sex.

I'm not really sure why your competing. You should be trying to please each other. If it's about getting your O first, then the women should always get hers first! everyone knows that!!
