Honeslty, i start the the premise of this argument. You can argue the case of Iraq's hands being tied to terror, more directly 911 and surely you can make the case that we shouldn't have gone into Iraq.

However............regardless the war has become a battleground of different sorts. In Vietnam it was an isolated view, we feared the success of communism, and when we went in Russia and other communist factions didn't make it a battleground against the USA/Freedom.

In Iraq however, every wave of anti-sentiment, every resource of Al Queada and others have made this the cover of their agenda. They will forever use this as a defeat to our country if we fail. Furthermore, it isin't the same war, we knew it was too big of a risk to have Hussein in charge, he utlimately hated the USA over the previous Gulf War and would trade with terrorists if it meant harm/financial gain to himself. WAKE up people.

Do not* try and compare these wars, why is it you do?

Does anyone really know what is going on, in the areas of iraq that reject extremist rule, and the influence/guidance of Iran/Syria, we see universities/airports going up.

OBVIOUSLY IRAN is the bigger reason why this war isin't working.

wow you're smart..........

We are not saying that they are "exactly" the same. There are both similarities and differences.

Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11, and certainly did not have those alleged weapons that were destroyed long ago. Whatever Saddam said about working with terrorist maybe isolated, or may have to do something different.

I just can't figure out how come the US congress voted for the Iraq war in the first place, based on false information.

And for crying out loud, Saddam was executed. Give the man's soul a break. And his actions were never chosen by the Iraqi people. And neither did they choose to be in what they are in now. He was just a stupid and a magalomaniac tyrant. And I think Bush certainly fits that category.

The terrorist threat should be another matter. Its best if America just keeps to itself and defend itself from terrorists by any means necessary. Invading and occupying countries without regional and local support will never work.

And it is absurd to think that some grubby insurgents or terrorists or whatever you call them would invade the shores of the US with suicide bombers ready to kill innocent people.

Terrorist threats in other countries requires strong diplomacy.

I am awake. Especially as a Muslim seeing that faith is being used for evil means. Maybe you could use a reality check.

And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for? Don't ask me I don't give a damn. Next stop is Iran! And it's five, six, seven. Open up the pearly gates, Oh there ain't know time to wonder why, Whoopie!, we're all gonna die.
It's not so much the comparison of why.
It is more like we don't agree with the Why

Feel Like I'm Fixing To Die Rag (Next Stop Vietnam)
Country Joe & the Fish
Come on all of you big strong men
Uncle Sam needs your help again
he's got himself in a terrible jam
way down yonder in Viet Nam so
put down your books and pick up a gun we're
gonna have a whole lotta fun

(CHORUS)
And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for
don't ask me I don't give a damn, next stop is Viet Nam
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
ain't no time to wonder why, whoopee we're all gonna die

Come on generals, let's move fast
your big chance has come at last
now you can go out and get those reds
cos the only good commie is the one that's dead and
you know that peace can only be won when we've
blown 'em all to kingdom come

Come on wall street don't be slow
why man this war is a go-go
there's plenty good money to be made by
supplying the army with the tools of its trade
let's hope and pray that if they drop the bomb,
they drop it on the Viet Cong

Come on mothers throughout the land
pack your boys off to Viet Nam
come on fathers don't hesitate
send your sons off before it's too late
and you can be the first ones on your block
to have your boy come home in a box

In VIETNAM AMERICA started war on false pretext,Communism fob ea,a totally misconception.VIETNAM fought gallantly with the support of RUSSIA and CHINA and thus prevented AMERICAN EXPANSIONISM.America got a lesson but did not learn. Its show of strength, power mongering and intention of ruling all over the people bringing Chaos and turmoil in the whole world.Super POWER thought Vietnam will succumb. But the reverse happened. The anti communist countries supported the war.IRAQ invasion is also on a false pretext, only to get benefit from its oil production.Clearly against all norms and laid down guidelines.Whole world was against the invasion but the self appointed protector of Democracy did not pay heed to any reason and getting its price.Reason of being compared with Vietnam is that America will have the same in Iraq as had got in VIETNAM.WAR on false pretext can not win.

needless to say, the two wars illustrate what happens once you fail to take account the values, subculture and morals of the individuals you pick for to "save." the two wars are Orwellian in that they do no longer truly serve any purpose different than to destroy culmination of the economic equipment that ought to settle for to the staff. Iraq is greater frightening in that we decide for the oil we declare we at the instant are not combating for. So, it is going to be greater durable to decrease & run in Iraq. on the different hand if we save spending $10 billion money per 30 days our united states would be destroyed from interior of. In Vietnam casualties have been lots greater; besides the fact that, there replaced into greater reporting with regard to the conflict. additionally, considering there replaced right into a draft there replaced right into a sturdy protest circulate. no person cares approximately Iraq or might even sign a petition enable a lone march down the line. In Iraq our troups are "volunteers' and prefer McCain says they might combat and die for yet another a hundred years and no-one will care lots approximately it. yet, the troops pay a poor fee. partly beuasse of greater advantageous scientific technologies, troops go through an exteremely intense fee of head injuries from IEDs. The lesson of the two wars are the Powell Doctrine: do no longer pass to conflict till you're waiting to place each little thing into triumphing becuase triumphing is that important which needless to say it is no longer in Iraq. definite. there are various unhappy similarities between the two wars. ********************************** In analyzing the comments above the lack of information displayed is shameful. people who do no longer keep in mind historic past are condemned to repeat it.

A simple explanation! Propaganda ! Obviously you are aware that Vietnam was to stop communism from spreading across Asia..This never happened,,today we are told that if we leave Iraq, the terrorist will win and some how, destroy America, however they never mention the fact that the terrorist have no problem to recruit because of Iraq!
Propaganda all is phony and unfortunately many buy into it !
The truth is our troops can't secure Afghanistan which is the true hot bed for terrorist because Bush and his administration
saw dollar signs in Iraqi oil,and this has become increasingly obvious as our troops (God bless them!) are fighting a war that began under false pretense !

First of all this is not a war. This is a tragedy. Thousands of people are being murdered because one man wanted to draw the attention away from how he was stealing away the freedoms from his own country.
You can not have a war on terror.
Terror is a security issue. If any one was truly worried about terror the boarders would be secure.
The wars happening in the middle east are religious in nature and we should have no part in it.
Bush needed to take care of home and instead he created this war.

the answer to this is simple ...although it may not seem simple it trully is.....

would you get into a fight that is more of words that bombs? no ! ! also would you get into a fight that is a fight you cant win? NO! ! !
this is the same as vietnam in the way that it is a war of word and paper . not of bombs and bullets! The only way to win is on paper and words! We can do neither! But send our young to fight and die !
to win this war we would have to get rid of an entire nation of another religion "Muslims" and that we can not do! OH and they know that !
if you think it can be done , look down the street , is that one of the enemy or just your friendly 7-11 worker???
this war is being carried out wearing the uniform of thy neighbor! only our guys over there are wearing the uniform of the usa! an easy target !

It's natural (and beneficial) to draw upon and to try to learn from history. I don't think we can know what the fallout of redeployment would mean. It seems clear that we are moving to isolate Iran and Iraq through soft power, if redeployment becomes necessary.... at least that's what I saw in the military sales to Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

By the way, what you are describing is textbook Preventative War... it always bothered me that nobody really corrected this.
